"All of our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them." - Walt Disney
Pretty sure this is Walt taking to those of us who are crazy enough to plan a trip during the week between Christmas and New Year's... but I am here for it!
A Little Background
Why: In June of 2019 we began the fun of planning what would be a massive spring break trip in April of 2020 (need I say more). Now that trip did end up getting rescheduled and we had a great trip at the end of September of that same year but because of well, you know, it was mainly a trip of rides, rides and more rides. We still had a magical time! However, we vowed to make that up to our kids with a blow out of a Disney Trip and since the bucket list item for me is to go to Disney during the Christmas Season, we have pulled the trigger and are all booked.
When: December 26 - January 2 (yep, we are are doing it)
Where: Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort (We love the Caribbean, we love Disney, so we can't go wrong here).
Who: Myself (The Reverend), The Pastor's Wife, Son: 11, Daughter: 8
What (and more why): The big trip. You know, the one where you hope your kids will look at you when they are 30 and say, remember that time we did Disney at Christmas? More importantly: We got to ride every ride more than once during our 2020 trip and it was fantastic. However, we now want the Disney experience. The Characters, the ambiance, the snacking, the shows, everything that was missing in 2020 (of which we were okay with, and knew what we were getting when we decided not to cancel). We also want to be able to take advantage of my daughter not quite being 10 yet and squeeze one more trip before she hits that "Disney Adult" age. Finally, my son is infatuated with Disney Imagineering right now. So much so he is set on getting his degree in Architectural Engineering and working for Disney as an Imagineer. Will that actually happen, I hope so, but knowing kids change their mind often, I want to incapsulate that magic in what I have been told is the best Disney experience out there, the holidays.
*Side Why: My wife and I actually snuck to Disney in 2021(those are the attached pics) with some friends for an adults only weekend to experience the fullness of Epcot Food and Wine, Magic Kingdom, and Hollywood. We kind of need to make that one up to the kids. (If you have never done an adults only trip to Disney, especially with friends, I cannot recommend this enough. We had the best time, laughed hard and got so much done.
Yes, we know we are a bit crazy and yes we are managing expectations. This trip is not about "how much can we do" but is all about how much we can enjoy. All that to say, finding trip reports or tips this specific week has proved to be a time hog of searching the boards, so I figured I would try my hand at a Pre-Trip report. Which comes to remind me... I did not finish my 2020 trip report....
Thanks for joining along, I cannot promise I will update all the time, but I will do my best! If you have any Christmas week tips, feel free to share below.
