Here's a poll for all Horizons fans.

It's 1998.

YOU are the head of the Walt Disney Company.

It has come up that Test Track is complete, and Horizons should be closed once and for all.

What do you do?

I guess that makes three of us. I actually thought up some ideas for a "new Horizons":animwink: :
Put in a sequence where it shows that there are problems in the future (ie. a computer crash on a space station), but then show that we have the technology to fix it.

Show a new colony, possibly underground.

Add at least a drop, or twists and turns.

Make that four! Definitely I would have updated Horizons, made it more futuristic and added a new living scenario. Then stick Mission Space somewhere else, far far away from Horizons!!!

The following is my own personal opinion:

Lot of people think that Horizon fans hate Mission Space by HP.

That's not true.

I like Mission Space.

The two are not comparable because each is a separate kind of ride experience.

In my personal opinion Horizons needed a good update not really a total destruction.

One of the updates should have been a gift shop.

They should have sold bottles of "Lorange juice" imported from the western hemisphere of MessaVerde.

Come on, you know everyone wanted to know how it would taste like.

Action figures and play set vehicles would have been a big plus.

The paintings in the entrance needed to be updated and the voice announcements should have been giving more scripts to announce.

Go and enjoy Mission Space while its still there and people can remember it.

I think If they tore down the horizions building and rebuilt it but with the same idea of the ride with the same scences but a few additonial ones. Maybe make the ride vehicle like dinosuar's.

Keep Horizons open with minor changes; Mainly in the Imax movie. It also would have been nice if, after the ride, there was a Transcenter-ish area, but with futurstic home displays, instead of futuristic car displays. I still think that Disney should put effort into building an updated version of Horizons, still being an omnimover, being the same basic idea, but better. Hopefully, maybe, one day, we'll get that.

I say keep it open, with a few minor changes. As Walter stated, I too would have liked a Transcenter-like place. The IMAX part did need a bit of a change, and there could have been some other different changes. I just wouldn't have closed it though.

Here is what I would have done. I would have closed the ride, torn it dow and built Mission: SPACE. Then, with some of the leftover props and animatronics, and taken then to MK and intigrated some of them into a preshow and/or postshow to COP, taking up the area that was the Galaxy Palace. Theme it to a museum by the Metro-Retro society showing life what life was like in the past. That would not only allow a piece of Horizons to live on, but also add something to COP and give Disney a new reason to promote it as the "new" Carousel of Progress. Then, some of the other props and animatronics would be reworked and used to enhance other attractions or be part of new attractions. Not sure if Disney would ever do that, but it's what I would have done.

1. Keep the basic ride system, but update every scene. In fact, overhaul a whole bunch of them with

2. TOTALLY brand new technology - - redo the ride system, perhaps work a little so the narration is only heard in a vehicle per time. Make it, how they say, "shock and awe."

3. Create a choose-your-own ending section with space, desert, undersea. Space will take you to the ISTC (located between Wonders of Life and Horizons), Desert and Seas would take you to Storm Rider?? attractions between Horizons and Test Track. (A hub will be available to explore this post show).

4. Maybe reconstruct speakers and musical scores. Keep the family, the theme song, and the fundamentals of quality - but shoot it for the future!
