Child meals for adults

Ok, this is embarrassing, but I gotta ask! I've had gastric bypass surgery and eat very little. I have a card from my doctor requesting I be allowed to purchase child or senior meals. Does anyone know if these are honored at Disney restaurants? Or can I nibble off my poor family's plates without being thrown unceremoniously into the streets?:slurp:

I know at the counter service places they will let you get a kids meal with no questions asked. I have been to a few of the sit-down restaurants and have shared meals with my husband and son without a problem either. Especially in EPCOT, I think the servers are used to people sharing meals. I heard that Disney is excellent at accomodating special requests for medical and/or dietary reasons.

don't be embarrassed!! that's silly!

i think disney is pretty much about accomodating it's guests - you shouldn't have any trouble... i have some pretty strange dietary needs myself and they have always been very accomodating to me....

have a great time!

I always get the child's meals. You don't really get all that much less, and the prices are around a dollar or more cheaper. Trust me, you are in NO WAY putting Disney out...at all, and no one will care!

Dont feel silly...this is what the discussion forums are all about!!! Ask and we will try to answer. As far as your situation goes......Simply ask your server, they are very accomodating. One time I had been in the 50's Prime Time Cafe in MGM and I wasnt all that hungry. We asked the server if my friend and I could share a meal. Not only was it no problem, but the kitchen split the meal for us and it came out on two smaller plates pre split!!! Then I had plenty of room for dessert!!! Go and I hope you have a great time!!! In the past I have heard of tales of an adult being refused a kids meal, but I think it was at some of the more 'up market' waiter service restaurants.

However, when we tried it we had no problems.

My hubby and I spilt meals at WDW all the time. Not only do we tend to snack and not eat too much for meals, you don't want left overs. As said before counter service is no problem, I would guess that most sit down service meals wouldn't be either (or you can get an salad, soup ect....) The only place I can see problems would be all you can eat places (Cheif Mickeys, Crysal places ect..) Also the dinner shows.

Good luck

I think it depends upon your server. If you explain your problem and show the card then I think, following the Disney philosophy, they will be only too happy to serve you and your party.

Some people might think I am cheap but I think its being realistic....I sometimes dont order a big meal....just an appetizer for my meal and wait till the kids are done and eat what they dont....they almost never finish all their food at sit down resturaunts. If a place wont honor your card( and I cant imagine they wouldnt but) just say you want to talk to the manager. Or if you want just order an appetizer and ask for it to be delivered at the meal with everyones entrees.

I am sure Disney will accept your request. Heck, my mom gets kid's meals all the time, and WDW has always allowed her to do so...even at nice restaurants.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad I asked (even though I sure hesitated). I'll give it a try. This is the reason I'm not going to the character breakfast with my daughter and grandson...I tried to convince myself I would be paying for the experience but not the food, but that's a lot to pay for 1/2 cup of food and some experience! LOL
