On my recent trip to MK I discovered that on the Monday before my vist, Disney did away with the Chicken and Waffle sandwich. It was a meal I was really looking forward to. I asked why it was taken off the menu to clean up the menu.

They asked me if I wanted something else to which I replied "no thanks....but you can let the dining manager know that it was a horrible mistake and they lost a customer at Sleepy Hollow."

Yes I realize that my little outburst was totally insignificant to Disney but I had to make my voice known.

I understand being kinda upset over something you enjoyed no longer being on the menu, but telling an establishment you're no longer going there because of it is a bit much. Restaurants are constantly changing their menus and their purpose isn't just to cater to a few people.

No you're right, in retrospect it was childish to say that and I really will go back to them. I was just caught up in the fact that my taste buds and brain were going 80 mph with anticipation and I hit a brick wall with the bad news.....

Uh, a restaurant changing their menu and no longer appealing to your particular tastes is a GREAT reason to stop frequenting that restaurant.I mean, why else would you go to a restaurant if not to eat food you enjoy? And if they stop serving food you enjoy, why would you continue to go?

OK, I have strong feelings about this. I voted yes, but.....

The waffle needs to be crispier - they should be crisp on the outside and a little fluffiness on the inside
The slaw should be minimized, or less wet.
There should be a sauce on the chicken

Well......the main focus of my post was to express how dismayed I was at the time. I'll still go there for their funnel cake and what ever.

I was just looking forward to that sandwich.

The waffle sandwiches (I preferred the non-chicken one) were one of the hidden gems at WDW.

My chief criticism is they are taking away something that is different from the usual burger and fries. Every time they take away something that felt "special" I am disappointed.

We need time for things to happen.
I did dig that chicken waffle sandwich and prosciutto one as well. Looks like they're both gone. It looks like they're gearing more toward sweets and coffee type of spot, which I think that's exactly what they were for a while no? Did they ever do the savory thing prior to the waffle sandwiches?

Cause they're not catering to just you? No menu item lasts forever.

The OP is not telling the restaurant to shut down. He's only telling them that he won't be coming back. Nothing at all wrong with that - it lets the restaurant know that they lost a customer. If that happens enough times, perhaps the restaurant will revise its menu.

I agree! They seem to always take away very popular menu items that so many people love!

They took one thing off the menu. If they revise the menu to bring it back for a few people, that's catering to them, lol.

While true, it doesn't really make any difference. Disney's quick service dining locations aren't competing with one another. It doesn't make a hill of beans difference if Sleepy Hollow loses a customer if that customer walks 1,000 feet into Frontierland and eats at Pecos Bill's. They know you need to eat lunch somewhere, so they're not especially concerned if you're no longer happy with a specific location.

And there's nothing really wrong with that. In fact, a merchant SHOULD cater to his customers. But he won't know what the customers are thinking unless they tell him. And if a customer is cheesed off enough to not come back because item X is not on the menu any more, that should tell the merchant that item X is a pretty important one. But yeah, as CaptainAmerica pointed out, in this unique situation Disney has pretty much a captive audience. And the loss of a customer in one location usually means gaining a customer at another, for a net gain/loss of zero.

Do you guys really think they make menu decisions without considering sales first? I promise you that if this was a big seller / money maker they would have kept it. Their decision to take it down is evidence that the OP is in the minority in his love for this particular item.
