Chefs de France - Comments??

Hey All!

I was just wondering how many of you had eaten at Les Chefs de France in EPCOT. If you have, was it worth it?

I was looking at all the menus from restaurants in EPCOT today and I can't get over that they have a gourmet macaroni and cheese! That alone is reason for me to go.

If you have any info whatsoever on if it's good, what you've had, when a good time to go is, etc, I'll take all the info you can give me. I'll be in WDW the 2nd week in March and I really need to make priority seating ASAP.

Thanks in advance!

*cracks knuckles and stretchs* Alrighty you want some input... here goes. I went there with my family Sept. 2002. I was a Disney Store manager at that point.
I was looking so forward to our dinner there. We waited 15 minutes after being seated just to be acknowledged by our server, then 45 minutes to get our food, which two of the four orders were cold. The food was not that good, compared to the price. But hey it could have been an off night....

Meega, nala kwishta!
I've had dinner several times in the last few years, and we had lunch for the first time just this last October.

While I didn't really care for lunch to much, the dinners have always been very good.

From what I know about the place, the three chefs change the menu every year, depending upon which chef is there at the time (we were told they rotate each year). So what you get one year, may not be available if you return.

But we've always found good things to eat each time.

We only skipped the dinner this year becuase we wanted to do a few more new places and had to sacrifice an old standby, so opted for a lunch tuhis year instaed.

So, I'd highly recommend the place. You should, if you haven't already, to look at the reviews section too...

Le Chefs de France reviews

Hope that helps!

I would prefer to go for lunch. I'll be taking 2 other girls in my sorority who have never been to WDW, so I wanted to do as much as possible. I can't seem to find one single restaurant that we all agree on that is actually good!!

I don't think cost is an issue, but we're staying off property so I can't go to any of the resort restaurants, just inside the parks. I just really want to try gourmet mac and cheese.

What did you have when you went??

My family and I have eaten there for dinner every year for three or four years now. It has always been delicious. The french onion soup is unbelievable! I always get the tenderloin steak and it's always good and it comes with fabulous potatoes!

When we were there this past June, however, we noticed a huge drop in the crowds eating there. It was nothing specific, but I felt very unpatriotic eating there. I still love it though, and that was just my own personal feeling.

I had a seafood dish, it was something I could have made at home just as well. The men had a steak dish that was not that exquisite. But apparently we jsut caught them at a bad time, a very bad time.

There is very little "French" about this restaurant, believe me. Its where chef's who've lost their creative palate go to fade away. The menu's i've seen are schizophrenic...they cater to what they think American tourists think the French eat and then add in american dishes that have been adopted as "french."

I don't like to bad mouth in general but i felt that if you're looking to impress your friends who will be going to WDW for the first time, this is somewhere i felt i'd recommend to avoid. Within EPCOT, i'd recommend Le Cellier et the Garden Grill. But right around the corner, albeit outside EPCOT, is the Yachtsmen's Steakhouse (Yacht Club) which we enjoy

Although if you/they loved Amelie, certainly bring them to Impressions de France, the short film. Its very stereotypically French ala Amelie, not the Bush Administration. Just don't get drawn into the over-priced parfum shop.

Sure you can!!! That's what the monorail and Resort boats are for!

One thing they are SURE to have fun at is the HOOP-DEE-DOO REVUE!!! In fact, I can't think of a more "sorority" thing to do! It's fun, loud, and enjoyable with a great show good food! (Not to mention all-you-can-drink Sangria and beer!!! - WOOHOO!) :p

Take the boat from the Magic Kingdom. It's a great ride over to Fort Wilderness. You're all sure to have a great, memorable time and be sure to get the souvenir photo of your group taken before you go in!!!

For lunch I had a grilled cheese sandwitch. It was OK...just OK, nothing great there. But if it really is lunch, I'd say you have a lot of choices. Try the Chinese restaurant, or our favorite lunch sopt, Rose and Crown in England. Nothing wrong with fish and chips for lunch! :slurp:

And I'd second lebernadin Garden Grill as well. Good food and you get to see Chip, Dale, Pluto.... :D

My wife and I ate there about 8 years ago on one of our trips the WDW. I had fish, Orange Roughy (not sure if I spelled it right). It made me feel quesy. And I love fish. Might just have been a bad day, not sure. We did not go back.

My opinion, go to Ekershus for the buffet for dinner. I can't say the word excellent any more about it. It is the best.

I agree! However, they changed the format of the Akershus "buffet" during the past year and the main courses must now be ordered off the menu instead of being on the buffet table.

Sadly, this really slows things down and makes it not as enjoyable as it used to be.

Well I went on the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package about two years ago. The ONLY thing I was into was the Filet Mignon!! I couldnt even find anything else that I would be interested in. The service was fine, the young lady we had was actually very nice, but I was pretty underwhelmed by the food and atmosphere. It was OK, but certainly nothing spectacular. I agree with a previous posting recommending the Le Cellier!! A nice selection on the menu, GREAT breadsticks, lovely service etc. Also you may want to look into the 50's Prime Time in MGM in addition to whichever place you choose in EPCOT. THAT is a must do restaurant on EVERY trip for me. Hope this helps!! Belle
