Cheesestakes at WDW

My first meal on my first trip to WDW nearly 15 years ago was a cheesesteak at All Star Movies food court. Being British I'd never experienced anything like it before, was delicious. It's a shame the resort food courts no longer offer them.

Thank you so much.

CONGRATULATIONS, disney4life2008!!! You're giving me hope. I'm currently waiting for IRB approval for my dissertation project for my Ed.D.in Educational Leadership, and I just booked my (hopefully) celebratory trip to Disney in December. It's been a long 4 years already, and I needed the extra incentive to keep myself going through this final stretch. If I don't stay on track, I'll be spending a week is Disney with that all-too-familiar guilty feeling that I should be writing, so this trip is a bit of extra incentive to keep me on track for a November defense. It must feel amazing - great job :)

And yes, Philly can claim water ice, stromboli, Irish potatoes (spoiler alert: they are not potatoes), and soft pretzels, but I'm not sure I agree on the Rueben. I grew up on Long Island have lived in Philly for 10 years - I definitely associate ruebens with Jewish delis in NY more so than any place in Philly. I think Philly can also lay a claim to scrapple - ewww. Jim's Cheesesteaks trump Wawa. Dipping your soft pretzel in your water ice is another oddly Philadelphian thing.

That being said, CBR's Old Port Royale food court has one on the menu for dinner (with house-made Jamaican Jerk chips, no less) which I look forward to trying.

Boy, it seems like half of the members of this board are from the Philly area (Lancaster, PA for me). I think the other half is from the UK. :)

I have never had a Wawa cheesesteak, I always go with the classic size, Itallian hoagie. I will have to take a look at the steak next time.

Never had one in disney, but I would say Gaetanos in south jersey has great humongous cheese steaks.

When you want a chicken cheese steak you need to add bacon to make it complete

Nope too many trips on the Acela to DC and stops at the Philly airport, But when I'm at the train station or PHL there is nothing better than a Cheesesteak. (or 2) :hungry::hungry::hungry:

I'm a few hours north in upstate NY, and even here, we love our Philly cheesesteaks. (We're a state obsessed with sandwiches, in fact -- Reubens, Beef-on-'Weck, Buffalo Chicken sandwiches, Spiedies...every part of the state has its own iconic sandwich). In fact, there's a popular restaurant 20 minutes from me (aptly named Mac's Philly Cheesesteaks) that makes it their specialty, and the more I think about it, the more I'm thinking I need one right now!
