Cheerleading And Dance World Championship

ShookieJones

We need time for things to happen.
Anybody ever hear about this or know how it effects crowd levels?
Our upcoming May Vacation to WDW is falling during 2 Grad Nites and now this...Hmm.....

The truth is, we've been enjoying the very managable crowd levels the first week of May for the last 5 years, and I totally consider myself lucky. :king:

I was looking at touring plans and I see the following week would have been best.
I was thinking of moving it off a week I'd deal with the issue of the ADRs and rebook but I got such a good deal on airline tickets already if I changed I'd be paying airfare prices that i'm sure are through the roof.

I know there's nothing I can do about it, and I'll enjoy myself no matter what but I'm just wondering what to expect.

Good luck finding any time during the year without any sports teams there. A quick check of the ESPN WWoS schedule shows during February there are tournaments or competitions for baseball, softball, lacrosse, soccer, field hockey, track & field, cheerleading, dance, and football. It is a huge business now with a majority of the teams not being local and having to stay at the resorts. There are not really any discounts or plans available for them so they are paying big money to be there. It makes for a great experience for them to play in such a great facility and also to turn parts of it into a vacation.

We understand that for wwos to be profitable, they need to have a full schedule. Our problem is that disney and the participating youth organizations do little to stop the athletes from disturbing hotel and park guests.

The competition you will run into at the end of April is the World Championships. I like to think that these teams (and their parents) have a lot more discipline.

BUT there will be early morning practices at your resort............I'm a cheer parent as well and know this to be true.

They usually split the competitions between the Milk House and behind RnR OR at Indiana Jones at Hollywood Studios. I would avoid HS until Monday.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!!!

I think the problem here is lack of chaperones, personally. I can't imagine if adults were required to be with the groups of girls as they toured the park we would be having this conversation. And quite frankly, Disney shouldn't be the ones telling parents they need to keep an eye on their kids...not that they are or anything... :hammer:

Well...when I was working there...it was nice and not so nice :) Depends on if it's the HS or College groups :) However, now with a wife and kids...IT SUCKS because they are all RILED UP and loud most of the time! The only other worse time is when the RUDE Brazilians are there 'en mass! THEY DESTROY the place! Course...there are weeks wear you shouldn't where RED either :) Little crazy around that time as well...but not near as bad as Dance, Cheer and Brazilian visits...

I have to agree about the foreign tour groups that visit. It seems they have become MUCH more frequent the last couple years. I used to crack up laughing in the "Flights of Wonder" show when they joke about the tour guide with the flag...now I just want to cry, because it is sooo true.

And wearing red is only one day - the first Saturday in June. Have gone several times on that day and I have never seen anything crazy that day - unless you are just offended in general...

I can't say that I haven't seen anything CRAZY on red day...but you always have those who wish to have attention. Funny story...I went to see my wife one day in the parade and was to meet her in front of the castle afterward to go play around in the park. I look up and she comes STREAKING across the park like the FLASH and grabs a hold of me and starts kissing me.....it was red day...and she wore her NC State shirt and shorts...ALL RED...LOL I was laughing my rear end off!

The Brazilians are bad though. If I had to choose between dance week and a week when it was heavy Brazilian attendance...I would choose dance week ALL DAY! They ALWAYS beat up on the characters....which HURTS and they just TRASH the place in general. Try going to one of the food courts for breakfast at an All Star one morning with them in there...TRASH PILED UP on tables, on the floor...IT'S HORRIBLE! Nice bathing suits though :) :)

True, Disney shouldn't be telling doling out common sense, that isn't there job. But it is disney's job to well keep the peace in the park. Disney invites these groups, there was to be some rules of conduct that they give to them and what is expected of them. If there was a pack of 30 adult males that were roaming through MK that kept repeating the Eagles' chant over and over again, there is going to be someone from Disney to tell them to quiet down.

Like the fights during pop warner this past year, when these groups act up the blame falls onto disney.

I have read what some "christian" blogs describe what happens during gay days and it is just comical bad. I highly doubt that disney is going to let anyone, gay or straight, fondle their partners; if they did, tom sawyer island would be filled with teens looking for quiet places.

Bwahaha! I think its awful that people would lie about something like that. If it actually did happen, it would be all over the news. Given that that weekend alone pumps millions upon millions of dollars into the tourism economy in Orlando, everyone should be totally happy about it....

Exactly, if anything actually happened everyone would know about it. And yes, this event does pump serious money into the parks and area.
