Has anybody tried to use the online check-in 10 days prior to arrival? Does it save time when you get to the Resort? We are staying at Pop Century starting May 20,2009.Does it really save time?

^I want to add a question to this post if you don't mind.

When you use the online check in, do you have to print anything off? Does it matter if you check in 10 days prior or a few days?

I have checked in online but I haven't arrived for my vacation yet. It starts in about a week. I didn't have to print anything out. Apparently I just need to show my ID when I get there and they will have my packet of keys/info ready for me. And from my understanding you can use online check in anytime from 10 days until your vacation until the day of.

Someone else who has used it and already arrived for their vacation may have more info for the OP.

I checked in online for our trip on may 4th. It was nine days out from our arrival and they asked if I wanted to add a credit card for expenditures (which i did).

I doubt that is speeds anything up, but at least they know I am a confirmed guest and they will assign my room nowing that.

It does greatly speed up the checkin process. When you arrive your welcome packet is already waiting for you, you sign the agreement about damages and whatever else its says and your on your way. It has its own checkin line seperate from the rest of the guests

You can print out the confirmation, but it is not required. I would reccommend it, however. I did the early online check-in but the resort had absolutely no record of it, despite my having a confirmation number. I had a copy of the confirmation, but they never asked to see it. It served as proof that I did in fact use the online check-in and didn't just want the shorter (i.e., no) line. It never hurts to keep it handy just in case.

i used the online check in and i don't remember even having to sign anything. there was 1 person in front of me and she was done when i got there, so no waiting. i walked up and gave my name and was handed my package and that was basically it. the guy really wasn't into talking, i got the feeling he actually wanted just to walk away. lol

Checked in online last night - only room request options it gave me were for a mini-fridge or a pack-n-play. I was hoping to request a king bed but there was no place to enter it.

Ahh - good to know.
Also just FYI but this is true for all the value resorts. At the moderates, in particular PORS and FQ, king bed is actually a room category now. The bad news about that is that it will cost you a little extra to get one, the good news about it is you can guarantee having one.

Interesting, I would have guessed Kings to be in relatively low demand at Disney given the large percentage of families. I would think they would want to make sure they get them filled with all of the couples and singles that show up instead of putting those folks in a double some family of four will insist on getting.

I would have thought the same thing. As a general rule what you described is what happens at the values. If they have extra HC rooms available couples get put into them. Almost every time that I have stayed at a value without the kids I have wound up in a king bed room. From what I understand they were just popular enough at the moderate resorts that they moved them into some of the water view rooms and made them a separate category so couples could guarantee them.

Actually the king bed rooms at the moderates tend to be on the corners of the buildings and can be either a standard or water view, you will be guaranteed a king bed but you cannot guarantee the view.
