Checking in late at night

Hi! I'm new here, and I have a question about late check-in at hotels.

We are going to be arriving at the Contemporary on Friday for six nights, and will probably arrive at 9:30 PM.

Does anyone have any experience with arriving so late? Do you get the worst room? I am really nervous about this!

Thanks!

I've never checked-in late at the Contemporary, but we've arrived after 10PM at several other resorts without a problem.

They do the room assignments 3 days (I think it is 3, maybe 4) ahead of time, and it is not based on check-in time.

we haven't checked in late at the contemp. but we have checked in late, after 10pm, at all star movies. I called the resort directly the day of our arrival and told them we would be arriving very late, I was nervous about this because on our first few nights we had just my hubby and me and 5 kids, so we needed the two rooms to be connecting and not too far out. We got great rooms, Dalmation Bldg. 1 walk out the doors and could see both pools. So if you were really worried about it you could call the day of your arrival to "reconfirm" it might not help, but it sure can't hurt!

On my last trip I checked it at 1:30 in the morning, due to having to sit in the plane on the ground for three hours. Like the others here have said, I don't think that your arrival time determines your room. I was staying at the All Star Music, got a good room, not far away at all.

Welcome to WDWMagic, kacey!!!. This is probably the best WDW site out there. May not be as large as some others, but hopefully friendlier:) . Feel free to ask any questions.....

Checking in late at night should not be a problem. Don't worry too much about the room and view. Too many great things to experience at WDW to get caught up in room location. Enjoy your WDW vacation and again welcome to the Magic.

Last September my mom and I checked into Port Orleans at midnight we did not have any problems. It was actually kind of nice to walk around the resort at night with it being so quite. Have a great trip.

Thanks for the welcome and all of the replies everyone!

My concern was that they wouldn't have any rooms that meet our needs left. My son has asthma and we require a non-smoking room, and we requested a room that has a short walk to the monorail, etc. so he doesn't tire before the day even starts. We booked a Garden View room in the wings, and I faxed my requests last night. Hopefully everything will work out.

Usually when you have someone in your group that requires rooms for health purposes, they do everything they can to accomodate you. If your room doesn't meet those needs, do not be afraid to ask to move rooms.

You should not have a problem getting the room you requested. If you asked for a non-smoking room with a garden view and paid a deposit, that is what you should get. As far as late checkin goes, we checked into POFQ one night at about 1:45am and it took almost an hour. There had been a stack-up at the airport and several planes came in late. There were about fifteen people trying to check in and only ome person working the desk. You should not have that problem though

I have a habit of checking in very late at night.

And it DOES matter, usually, for most people, late is ok -- as long as the computers are still up. Twice I have arrived (around 2 or 3 am) and the computers were doing some maintennence or something so I couldn't get in the room I was assigned (they couldn't access it until 5 am) so now I make sure to call if I am going to be late and the CM will make sure to print out a note for the late night staff about me arriving exceptionally late.

As a side note, I was told that I could change rooms the next day when I was placed in a "whatever was available" room.

Anyone can check in anytime at Disney. All the computers go down at 2 AM everyday to download new reservations and cycle other information. Before this happens all reservations yet to arrive are checked in and res cards printed along with room keys. We can then do check ins manually during downtime and allow you to get into your room. If you cant get your room at 4 am its because you booked for the wrong day and got there way to early, check in is imposibble before check out and a hotel day neither starts nor ends at midnight. If by some chance trouble earlier in the day caused a lack of room at the inn rest assured you are going to be upgraded to a nicer Disney hotel.

Same w/ my family  We just never get there when daylight is in view, unless we're coming down from a stay @ Daytona...and sometimes we get there @ about 2 or 3 am - no prob @ all, as ppl have already stated. Any resort is beautiful @ night, so quiet when putting the baggage into the room. :)

I have arrived at Port Olreans Riverside around midnight before - it was great to finally get there after a long flight and delay from the UK. No Problems with check-in or the room.

Hearing the slow music playing outside the lobby and the feeling of arriving at Disney was fantastic - despite it being late.

Well, I'm glad to say that you all were right!

We are back from our trip and we had a fabulous time!!

We had booked and paid for a garden view room in the wings, and requested the North Garden Wing. When we checked in, we were upgraded (without even asking!) to a tower room on the 9th floor. It was so great!
