Check-In Question

My family arrives at 9PM. I know it takes a while for luggage to reach your room if you use the Disney Magic Express. Has anyone had experiance arriving that late? Do your bags still take several hours to arrive. Trying to decide if we should just grab them ourselves from baggage claim. Thanks,

Deciding on whether or not to pick up your luggage yourself all depends on what you have planned for the rest of that evening. If you plan on getting to the resort and getting ready for bed right away, you will want to grab them yourself. If you plan on heading to Downtown Disney for about an hour or so, after checking in, then your bags should be there when you get back to the room. That late at night they are usually much quicker at delivering the luggage, as there aren't nearly as many arrivals as around mid-day.

Safest bet, just grab your luggage so there's no uncertainty.

Enjoy your trip! :D

I would recommend not putting the yellow luggage tags on that will be sent with your DME package. That way you can get your own luggage at the baggage claim and take it with you. If you do n ot want to deal with your own luggage then I would make sure to pack everything you need for the next day in a carry on. Normally it can be a few hours before you get your luggage to the resort and more importantly to your room. Being your flight is so late, you may not get your luggage in a very timely manner.

Remember that if you deal with your own luggage, the worst is taking it from the baggage claim to the DME bus. From there they load it in the bus and unload it for you at the resort. At the resort you can have Bell Services take your luggage and deliver it to your room.

I'm pretty sure I answered this question in another forum...maybe it was yours? Anyways, I suggested picking up your own luggage that late, unless you don't mind waiting until 12 a.m. or a bit later to receive your bags. DME does have a cut-off time of 10 p.m., at which time guests must retrieve their own bags and then hop on the bus. (Keep this in mind if your flight were to be delayed. I remember another incident in Feb. 2009 when we had an 8 p.m. arrival time; flight was delayed due to weather & we didn't get to our resort until 12 a.m., but I had the foresight to pick up our own bags.)

If you do decide to pick up your own bags, DO NOT put the yellow luggage tags Disney sends you.

Last time we went we arrived about 6:00 PM. We went to bed around 10:00 with no bags. I checked with bell service and they didn't have them fromthe airport yet. I had instructed the bell service to hold them and I would pick them up in the morning. About 11:00 there was a knock on the door. I was asleep by then. They delivered my luggage.

I would pick them up at the airport myself If I were you.
