Hey everyone, i left this post in another box but not many people have replied so i changed my heading. what restaurants on the WDW property are good and cheap. i'm a college student and don't have a lot of money but would still like to enjoy my meals at Disney. and are there any good places that have vegetarian menus?

A burger, fries and drink adds up to about $7.
Sometimes more...
For $10 per meal, you're pretty much going to have to stick to counter service food. If you're at a value or moderate resort, you should be able to do pretty well at the food court.

If you are on this tight budget I would recommed a few things...first off take snacks with you to the resort. I always have one bag thats full of snacks for us and the kids...that way i have the added bonus of having an empty suitcase for the way home...filled with Disney Souvineers etc

second..you might want to include things to eat for b'fast...bagels, dry cereal,(a styrofoam cooler and ice can keep your milk cold) granola bars etc what ever you like.

Third We always eat a big lunch late...lunch at rest. are cheaper than dinners...go for buffets where you can eat alot and fill up then only need a snack later on. You will pay more for a buffet than a sandwich and fries...but you will have variety..the kids love the buffet in Germany..but they like the singing and dancing around...the atmosphere etc.

check out the website and see if what your budget can affoard. If you do your research you can find just about anything to fit your budget. its all about planning! hope this helps.

We almost never buy more than two meals per day in the parks...b'fast in the room, late lunch snacks

That is such a good idea. Most the sit down restaurants have 2 menus. The lunch menu is usually much cheaper, and you basically get the same meal at dinner (they just add more garnish)

We live by that late lunch policy too. At EPCOT we got to Germany at lunch time (LATE) so we pay smaller amounts of money. Then in a couple of minutes they start bringing out the dinner food. (In other words we get a good discount) There aren't many resturants on Disney property though that are cheap. Food courts would give you the best chance to stay below $10.

Pretty much the counter service restaurants will be the best for you. Unfortunately you will not be able to enjoy the sit down restaurants...because most of them are truely unique and very good. If you can try and make a point, at eating at one. You may get tired of hamburgers and chicken strips after a while.

LOL, we do the same thing! Now I feel a LITTLE bit normal. Snacks are a great idea. You may also want to think about renting a refrigerator. I believe it's $15/day but depending on how many people you are sharing a room with, it might work out to just a few bucks. We did this the last couple of times and it worked great; we brought dry cereal, chips, snacks, all kinds of things with us in the suitcase and then bought milk and other perishables at the resort once we got there. I'm one of those people who is always hungry at odd hours so it was nice not to have to keep hitting the food court. If you DO want a fridge, though, you have to order it in advance. They only have so many to go around.

Like most others here, we spend our money on one really good meal (often a buffet) at lunch. Can you afford to spend more if you are only eating out the one meal?

To fill in the other times, we take snacks to eat in the room (but are too cheap to pay for the fridge). We take bagels, peanut butter and instant oatmeal for breakfast (we use the hot water at the resort beverage staion for the oatmeal and have even toasted the bagels on the toaster there--no one seemed to care at all).

For light "dinners" we pack an assortment of snackie things as well as cup of noodles and "Easy Mac" both of which can also be made with the hot water from the beverage station.

We think it is well worth eating as if you were in the dorms for breakfast and dinner in order to splurge on a nice lunch.

WEll, I think you should be able to affoard the late lunch buffets if you skip the b'fast and have money for a snack at the parks if you want. Call ahead to see what time the dinner price kicks in and eat just before that...thats what we always do.....late lunch you know like 3-4 pm...if you eat at the buffet it will get you through til you get back to your room. We did this at our last visit and even the youngest child made it through fit free! I always prefer to have more money for other things...than the food though we do splurge sometimes...it is DIsney and vacation :) I bet they wonder about me though when they e-ray the one suitcase...boxes of snack cakes, dry cereal, fruit snacks, granola bars, chips etc! no clothes at all, oh yeah, instant drinks like coffee or tea bags are great too if you cant stand water!

If you go to www.laughingplace.com and scroll to the bottom of the home page - you will find their " (web) site of the week". This week's site is one devoted exclusively to vegetarian eating at WDW, complete with prices. Hope this helps! My daughter is also a vegetarian ( and college student) so we've checked it out. usually, a restaurant will let her order the mac & cheese or grilled cheese off of the children's menu. Also check out the appetizers - she sometimes gets these as a meal.
