Hey, where do everyone who post on here chat? Sometimes posting get's boring, lol...I want to talk to people live....

Anyways, let me know if you know any good chat rooms that people here or you go to.....

Well, we had a chat..and it failed...i tried setting up a replacment..and my "tests" also came up belly up....until someone finds a practical solution...i dont see a chat returning

Can't we just use IRC? I use mIRC all the time. I know that www.thrillnetwork.com has a java IRC chat client connected to their forum.

IRC is a headache..you need to set up bots..and I have yet to see a Java IRC client that was FREE and decent. All the free ones i have seen only supported limited amounts of users before totally lagging out.

why dont we use msn messenger? you dont even have to be a hotmail member anyomore! and we could start a chat then invite the other people who are online, in!

The problem is that I know people here use Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, or MSN...no one uses the SAME..so its kinda hard to get a cross-program chat going...

IRC doesn't need bots. Go on DALnet, no bots required. irc.dal.net for an IRC client, or www.dal.net for their web page.

I have yahoo, msn, aim and icq but icq is almost never on because I lost my list with everyone on it and now no one ims me there... lol.

If anyone wants to add me to MSN just ask.. if you want to add me to the others I think they are all in my profile. Just ... please let me know who you are when you IM me cause I get some ims and then people don't tell me who they are and I get confused and that's just BAD.

Um okay 3 more pages of my take home final to do, 3:00 AM here, and 2 frappaccinos in me.... yeah .. fun.. be glad you don't live in my apartment hehe.

I use Trillian but it doesnt help because I cant..say..talk to 2 people on MSN and 3 people from AIM in the same window....

I still say that even with Dalnet, IRC is a headache. There is always some hot shot computer nerd (sorry if that offends anyone..and hey..im one too) who decides to "take over" a chan...which uh..even on dalnet..happens a LOT.

Im going to see what I can find as far as "web based" chat rooms...the 2 that I tested..one was pretty good but just a tad bit "flaky" at times..so if I can fix that one...we will be good to go

Yup I agree - some CHAT nerd hijacks the channel, and it just causes a nightmare and all control goes out of the window.

The web based stuff is too slow in my opinion. I ran a PHP version here for a while, and it was a nightmare. Chat Rooms are just too demanding on servers, bandwidth and clients - hence their decline.
