Characters Riding With Guests

I know it was a lot more frequent in the past and I know it still happens as I've seen recent pictures, but I have some questions about it. I'm curious.

I know that occasionally Jasmine and Aladdin will ride the Magic Carpet with guests and that Alice and Mad Hatter will ride the teacups. Are there any other characters that ride with guests?

I've seen a ton of suggestions for character interactions that said to ask the characters to ride with you, but obviously there would have to be nobody else in line, right? Does this actually work? Because I've also heard you just have to be lucky and they pick to ride with you if they want to ride.

Do they only ride with children? I'm 21 and a Disney fanatic and will be going with my mom to Disney World in June. She gets sick on the teacups but I still would love to ride them and would absolutely adore riding with Alice. I'm sure it's only for kids, but it'd be so wonderful. Has anyone ever heard of characters going on rides with young adults?

They typically only do this before or after a set, if and when they do it. I highly doubt they'd ride with an adult. I've also seen the evil stepsisters riding Carousel.

I heard it's common in Disneyland for the Mad Hatter or Alice to sometimes be found riding the Mad Tea Party. And years ago Alice and the Hatter would also be found riding the Carousel with the old Disneyland Band.

It doesn't happen often but it does happen occasionally at Walt Disney World. As an adult I have had the pleasure of riding The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh with Winnie the Pooh himself.

Aladdin and Jasmine riding with me and my now husband on the magic carpets in 2014. I think if you're the first ride of the day this is likely to happen - (they were both brilliant by the way, and made an average ride a LOT more fun). It should be something Disney does a bit more, as it made the first day of our holiday

I've been to WDW over 30 times in the last 3 decades and I've never seen nor had the opportunity to ride with any character. Yes it happens, but it's very rare. Like someone said above, you have almost a 0% chance of this happening. And if you would be closer to 1% and lucky, it would be because you are the first guest of the day at the ride or the character was out meeting with guests and they took a liking to you and chose you to ride with them. Even then, you are going in June which is one of the busiest times of the year in the parks, esp Magic Kingdom so your chances just went down below 0%.

Sorry.

We think the "random guest" shots are more probably frequently staged publicity shots rather than unexpected occurrences. Not that it never happens, just that we doubt that all of the photos of characters on rides are actual guests. Good luck and we hope you get to ride with a character. We have been going for over 30 years and we have never been on a ride at the same time as a character actually rode the same ride, let alone riding with the character.

Saw them out last week in Fantasyland.
Then this is something they either started again or is seasonal. They've been training characters for the last week off and on for the Marathon. For example Phoebus was out last week in France at EPCOT because he was training. And then he met people today at the Princess 1/2 Marathon. So whatever lol!
