There was a permit the other day for removal of a tower at characters in flight...

The only tower I could see in that area is on top the ticket booth.

and in the latest aerials it does look like it's gone...

Photo update as of Monday, August 29. The tower is indeed gone.

I wonder if there was some issue with the tower or it was just taken down for aesthetic reasons.

It did still say "Downtown Disney West Side". While it's still The West Side, Downtown Disney is no longer relevant.

Photo update as of Thursday, April 13. The Characters in Flight kiosk building has been repainted yellow...to match the gondola on the balloon perhaps. It's a lot "cleaner" looking without all the signs on the roof. However, there are NO signs at all now, so I expect some sort of signage will be added soon. See photo above for comparison.

Kind of a wordy new name...

Looks like Disney Springs is the only one in Florida. Most of their balloons are overseas.

I like the new name and no tower, but I don't know if it will work for their target market. Do you think people who pay for this are smart enough to make it past the third word in that name? Will they be able to figure out where to pay?

Just kidding. Judging by its popularity, I'm sure it's a great memory for many. Granted, I've never tried it, but I don't see the appeal.
