Have you ever been in line to meet a character, only for them to leave, then not come back? I have:

In June 2016, I was in Frontierland, and a small line had gathered to meet, BR'ER BEAR *Disney-fan boy scream*! I was so excited to see him, I hopped in line, which was about 20 people. I was just about to go up to him, when the attendant said he had to go hunt Br'er Rabbit. Well, a moment later, Chip and Dale walked over. I was a little bummed, but hey, it's Disney, I wasn't about to complain.

Yep... We did Elsa and Anna at DL shortly after Frozen came out, daughter patiently waited in line almost 2 hours only to have one of the Princesses leave for the day because she was feeling sick. I'm not a Frozen fan so I don't know which one it was by name only that it was the one with white hair... Then to add insult to injury later in the day we see the both princesses in the parade that day... still not sure if the she's sick was a line or they have different princesses in the parade than they have doing meet and greets.

It's a fairly common occurrence. Characters have limited time for their shifts. Normally the handler will estimate the end of the line and then prevent additional people from getting in line.

The friend of Elsa that you saw in the parade would almost certainly not have been the one at the meet and greet.

Sometimes they use rotating characters at a single location. So although bear was there when you joined the line, at the end of his set a new set of characters arrived. This isn't the case in many locations, but it does happen on occasion.

It would be very unusual for someone to get into a line for a characters and not meet anyone at all.

Generally we've found that they will announce that X and Y are being replaced with Q and P and tell you if the X and Y will return... though I've noticed sometimes that announcement only really gets made to the front part of a line so I could imagine an instance where you might ask who the character is then go wait in line and when you get there its someone else.

Yes... but its understandable. 30 minutes on stage can be an eternity in some of the costumes. Those costumes are HOT, uncomfortable and some are difficult to maneuver in. Unruly parents and kids can take their toll on characters too. There are plenty of injuries reported each year due to the costumes weight. And with less characters around, theres longer lines forming for those that do come out. Unfortunately some kids are going to be disappointed and have to miss out. Thats why you find out where characters are going to be each day and scramble to be at the spot early.

Last year I was in line to meet Stitch outside of GMR, and just as I got to the front of the line, Stitch left and Donald Duck came to replace him. I was a bit disappointed, but a picture's still a picture.

This is pretty standard at Disney. If I'm looking for a specific character, I generally ask the character attendant how long that specific character will be there and what my odds are of seeing them before I commit to the line.

Lol. The parade Princess' all look better and their gowns look shinier. But no, parade characters are not the same as meet and greets.

My secretary at work is a friend of Jasmine (used to be)
