Ok I am admit it I'm 36 years old and my favorite part of my Disney vacation is seeing the characters and getting their autographs. (Yes I know they are just underpaid college kids in very hot costumes but still....)
I'm going the first week of November and already have my autograph book and pen ready. I always try and find one new character every trip.

So what are some of the more "unique/rare" character that are out there walking the parks?

And other than character dining and Mickey's Toontown Fair where is the most unique place you've "bumped into" a character?

Very odd that we posted such similar posts so soon.
We found Horace and Clarabelle at the left entrance to the Magic Kingdom most all day last week.
Three Caballeros were at Epcot Mexico last week everyday.

Jiminy Cricket--VERY COOL!!!!!

In all my visits to Disney, I've never seen Jiminy (except for in the parades)

There are some Characters near the hat at MGM. I have seen Chicken Little and some other characters there. I don't remember who is there. I just remember Chicken Little because he's got a big head but a little body.

First off thanks for the compliment....LOL I was a "friend" of the charcters while I was in my mid-20s to mid-30s (more of a playtime job for me with decent benefits) so I definitely appreciate the College kid compliment.....as I'm sure 50% of the entertainment department...LOL:lol:.

Interms of rare charcter sightings.... Three Caballeros (Donald, Jose and Panchito) at EPCOT, Horace, Clarabelle, Bernard and Miss Bianca were in ToonTown near the Tear Drop last week, Shan-Yu at the China Pavilion in Epcot, and I have heard a fairly strong rumor that Marie and her two brothers may stay appearing on Main Street....sorry can't remember both names just Berlioz.

Your best bet for rare characters is to go to one of the hard ticket special events like MNSSHP and MVMCP.

Or 50 year old university professors who find the part time gig as an intense cardio work-out and psychological release to do something so completely different than what is expected of them everyday. As a member of the WDW Entertainment Cast, I will applaud your enthusiasm and encourage you to enjoy our Friends when you meet them!

I have heard rumors about Marie. I hope they bring her out! Miss Bianca and Bernard would be a great addition too.

For the special event with the Spangler Family (The Fam. that won the park to themselves for a couple hours) Marie was involved in that whole shindig. As for her coming out to do Meet and Greets, I have not heard anything as of yet.

You can find Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow daily in Town Square in the front of the MK. Daisy Duck also appears in Town Square daily. Jiminy Cricket has replaced Stanley at Rafiki's Planet Watch and will be there frequently now. Of course you can find Chicken Little and sometimes Abby Mallard at the Hat at MGM, and the Little Einstein's at MGM as well. Sometimes if you hit up the "teardrop" area in toontown (the area off to your right when you exit from the train) on the right day, you can find characters like Yellow Rabbit, Sheriff of Nottingham etc.

Also, at the Halloween Parties they have Mr. Walrus, Tarzan, Jane, Abu and many others!

I know the OP mentioned no Toontown...but...

When we were there a few weeks ago (sob..it's getting farther and farther away) we were down by the Toontown train station. As you face the station , off to the left is the smoking section, basically tucked away in the back corner behind the exit of the Judge's Tent (where you meet Mickey). We were just sitting there and out came Geppeto ( a really great character), Suzy, Perla, Rafiki (which for some reason struck me as odd) and here's the rare one (at least in my opinion) Big Al, an extremely large gray bear in a red vest. I admit we had no idea who he was...someone in the extremely light crowd (there were maybe 12 people) suggested Brer Bear, and we all rolled with that until he signed the kids books. I have since come to think he is from the Country Bear Jamboree (could be wrong on this)...he was a totally fun character, in my experience characters that are not that easily recognizable tend to be extra sweet and engaging. We basically had all these characters cornered...why they chose this spot is unknown to me but it was definetely a pleasant surprise.

Side note...while I think Suzy and Perla are recognized by everyone as the mice from Cinderella, a lot of people don't know their names and if you do know them they will practically smother you with hugs...Perla is in purple and Suzy in blue, just for the record!

Yes, I am a character dork but I swear I do it for the children...:D
