Character Meals

Why do you say that??

The food is awful, the atmosphere is worse (children - boogers - everywhere), it's loud, the automatic tip ensures a low level of service from most of the servers (there are of course, good ones), the character selection is odd (last time I went, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale, Baloo, Rafiki, Mulan and Aladdin) and unpredictable (the roster changes daily).

Yes
We dined at Goofy's for my BFs 35th Birthday dinner back in May. The food is comparable to ANY Disney buffet in CA or FL. Our character interaction was great considering it was 4 grown women (not grown-up women!!) I would recommend it.

Ditto on the reason... but you had better characters than we had.

Overall in my experience the characters in the dining were always better at WDW than DL... not sure why... but in terms of interaction I never seems to get great characters at DL.

If Goofy's is your only exposure, that's definitely the case. On a not-packed day, interaction at Plaza Inn is great, and since PCH is never packed, interaction there is usually at a high level as well. Goofy's is just a clusterfluff.

Our only experience with character at DL has been Plaza Inn and Goofy's... Plaza Inn was what I would call adequate, Goofy's was dismal... So we decided we weren't going to bother with any of the others as we figured the odds weren't good that we were going to get anything better... The last time the kids didn't even bother asking for Goofy's they said they had more fun at Rain Forest Cafe (which made me happy since it was not only cheaper but better food).

No
I had a good meal at Surf's Up, I really wanted Mickey and that is the only one that guaranteed Mickey.
You had it better then us. We were there about three weeks ago and after 90 minutes the only character we meet was Mickey. And that was the picture when we first arrived!! Other than the Plaza each of the last two summers, the character dining in DL is not on par with WDW. It isnt the well oiled machine it is in Florida. The CMs in WDW make sure you see everyone, in DL there is no pattern to what they do. I have to say though, both breakfasts at the Plaza and combined we saw about 20-25 different characters! Awesome!

Of course, but Goofy is EVERYWHERE. You can meet Goofy in Town Square, Toontown, Frontierland, Buena Vista Street and Paradise Pier at any given time, and his chef outfit is ugly, LOL
lol no i get he is everywhere trust me but i like to meet characters in diffrent outfits thats why i wanna meet him in a chef outfit though from pictures it does seem bland and blehhh lol

It's not much to speak of, pretty boring. Here's a breakdown of his other outfits:

Town Square: classic
Frontierland: Skeleton Halloween costume (Sept 13 - Oct 31)
Toontown: classic
Buena Vista Street: 20's zoot suit
Paradise Pier: tuxedo

Not many other characters appear in different outfits, it's pretty much just the fab five.

Town Square and Toontown: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale - classic
Frontierland (Big Thunder Ranch): Halloween costumes for all of the above
Buena Vista Street: 20's outfits for Mickey, Pluto, Donald, Goofy, Chip, Dale
Condor Flats: Pilot Minnie
Paradise Pier: Sailor Donald, Conductor Goofy

Goofy's Kitchen has everyone in chef outfits, PCH has everyone in beachy/surf outfits.

Has anyone been to Ariel's Princess Celebration? I'm wondering how hard it is to get a ressie for 5 guests 5 weeks out. This would be my client's daughter's first trip and really hoping we can get her a ressie.

You shouldn't have any trouble. You can often walk up to Ariel's Grotto - DLR dining isn't anything like WDW's Hunger Games-style reservation system.
