Goofy's Kitchen and the Plaza Inn are the most popular character dining experiences at DL.
Loved both of these and plan to do the Plaza again this summer!!!! Unlike WDW, there were so many characters, and ones you would not normally see in the parks. It was an awesome experience. The CMs could not have benn nicer. We liked Goofys Kitchen as well, but the Plaza was our favorite.

We have done both Goofy's and Plaza - for the money I would do Plaza again. While goofy's is nice, the selection that you think is amazing at first can be a bit overwhelming to kids, and you might not wind up with the value you think. Also the second time we did goofy's - it seemed lighter on the characters -Plaza they just kept coming! I would definitely recommend Plaza to anyone. Ariels grotto princess meal is OK, but now that fantasy faire is open, I'd do the princess there (as early in the day as possible) and skip the breakfast.

I didn't know you did Goofy's, too! Plaza is always so popular with everyone, bust because of the characters alone. I'd do it just to see Rabbit, I know he pops up in Plaza.:D

In Feb I went on my 2nd trip to DLR. I picked The Plaza for a character breakfast. I've been to many at WDW and never had the characters visit you more than at the Plaza in DLR. It was a great experience. The food was good also. I was sitting waiting for a waiter or waitress to take our drink order.Ha Ha found out they only clear and you serve yourself.

Surfs Up at the PPH is a much more relaxed, less crowded experience than Goofy's or Plaza. Goofy's is kind of a free-for-all and is the "name" in character dining. Surfs Up is more of a hidden gem - Mickey, Stitch, Pluto, Daisy - not as huge of a buffet but food has always been very good in my experience. I'd recommend it over the others in a heartbeat.

Since we are staying at PP, I'm thinking we will try that the morning we leave. Thanks!

We stayed at PPH and ate at the Surf's Up breakfast the day we left for the airport. The restaurant was literally empty for a Saturday morning (but we were there during slow time). We saw Stitch, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Daisy all dressed in their bathing suits. They also had a DJ that tried to pump up the "crowd" :D. The food was pretty decent with Mickey Waffles, fruit, muffins, eggs, and a make-your-own omelet bar that the chef cooks to order. It wasn't outrageously expensive either, and sometimes a character breakfast is included in your package. I'd definitely recommend it.

I would avoid Goofy's kitchen like the plague. Over the past five years we've taken our kids to a lot of different character meals at both DL and WDW, and the only one I can find no redeeming thing to justify is Goofy's kitchen. For us it was not simply bad food for the price, it was poor food coupled with the automatic gratuity hit before you even eat which resulted in poor service. Not only once but 3 different times I had to get up and go find someone in the kitchen to get items that should have been available. You serve pancakes, don't you think syrup would be available without having to find someone in the back to provide it? That's how ridiculous our breakfast was.

Frankly I think the reason the service was so horrible inside is because the servers know you've already paid, you've already been forced to tip and they can be as worthless as they want. Go do the Plaza Inn if you feel a need to have a character meal... But before you waste your time at Goofy's kitchen stop at Rain Forest Cafe its closer to the parks and you'll have a better experience than Goofy's kitchen... Goofy's Kitchen really isn't worthy of being anywhere near a Disneyresort.
