Character meals

My 5 year old daughter and I are going in September. What character meal would you recommend? Do I need to make reservations? How soon should I make them? How do I make them?

My family and I ( all adults) LOVE the character breakfast at Old Key West. The breakfast is really good, and it's all Winnie the Pooh characters that walk around and take pictures. TIgger, Piglet, Eeyore and Pooh walk around. It was so funny, when TIgger came to our table, he made my sister and our friends get up and start dancing with him. My dad got pictures of us, it's hilarious!!!!
There are character breakfast at some of the parks, but we didn't want to waste precious time at the park eating. So we went to the earliest seating for breakfast before the parks opened, that way we could still spend all the time at the park riding the attractions!!!!! Just a suggestion!!!

The 1900 park and fair at the Grand Floridian is great. Also Cheif Mickey's at the Contemporary is great for the kids.

well, I would recommend Chef Mickey's for breakfast or dinner in the Contemporary and the Garden Grill at the Land in EPCOT. you can call 407-wdw-dine up to 120 days in advance to make a priority seating request, which is what Disney calls a reservation. Since your going in September, I don't think you will have a problem getting a priority seating if you call soon.

We've never tried Olivia's which is at OKW for their Pooh & Friends character dining but we have gone to the Crystal Palace at MK to see them. They pretty much have the same things on all of the buffets (at least what I've found to be true). We've also gone to both breakfast and dinner at Chef Mickeys to see Mickey, Minnie, Chip & Dale and Pluto. I don't think Donald is at Chef Mickey's anymore. Those are both fun ones to go to.:sohappy:

We're going to try the 1900 Fare character dining with Pooh this time in just a couple of weeks so I'll let you know how that goes!

There's also a character breakfast at the Castle with the Princesses that your 5 year old daughter might like. I've never been to that one but from what I understand, you need to reserve your "reservation" or "priority seating" with a credit card. That's the only one that I know of that requires a credit card to hold the reservation.

Oh and if you do more so like a lunch, it's about $13.95 a person and at dinner time it's more like $19.95 but you can check those prices yourself to make sure I"m correct.

I love breakfast at Chef Mickey's. It's a buffet, with a little bit of everything, so even fussy eaters can find something they like

We are also going in September and plan to do some character meals. We have never been before and are looking forward to it. In reading about the meals I found more than one person who suggested going to the breakfast as late as possible-11:00 a.m. etc. They said there are fewer people and thus the characters will give you more one on one time. I guess it makes since as most people prefer to eat earlier. I plan on trying this myself-just make it brunch instead of breakfast. Does anyone know if Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge still has a character breakfast with Pooh and the Gang? My guide book has this listed however I have not found any other info. about it. Just wondering.../:veryconfu

Someone wrote on another thread (of course I can't find it right now), that the Garden Grill in Epcot has an ice cream social with the characters (Mickey, Minnie, Chip & Dale) in the afternoons. I saw that it wasn't listed in the earlier post. Is this still in existence or has it been cancelled? Thanks for any information!

If you looking for a good character dinner, I would suggest Liberty Tree Inn at MK. We make a point to do this the first night at WDW on every trip down.

You get to see the characters quite a bit. Every character usally hit your table at least once ducrning a meal, they tend to hit you twice alot.

We've done this dinner three times now, and it's always been one of the best dinners we do. Food is excelent. It's like a home cooked dinner. Service is quick, and pleasant. The rolls and the apple and honey butter are to die for.

Heck, we're reserving it again for our next trip in the fall. Four times in six years...and it's the only resteraunt we've gone to every year. We like it.

we went in May/June and the girls liked the Breakfast at Cinderellas Castle best but they wore their own princess dresses. The late breakfast has its plus of getting to skip a big lunch. But we did the early breakfast..got into the park before it opened and got some of the best photos of our trip...no ones rearend sticking out at head level of the 2yr old lol~ all of the kids LOVED the Liberty Tree Tavern meal. Even my husband got photos with the characters because the characters just kept coming back to him over and over again! At all the meals we never had a problem of getting our turn with the characters...we definately thought they were worth the money, plus you get that nice midday break in the a/c sitting down with out crowds waiting to get into a show~

I can honestly say that all the character meals we had were good fun good value and a memorable event. The only thing was last summer we could not get what we wanted and had to make do. I have by hook or by crook just got to get us all into Cindarellas castle next summer as a surprise for my good ladys birthday, its all she harps on about, well that and retaking our vows and riding in that carrage featured in this years Disney brochure.

Hey happysnapper was it hard getting a ressie for Cindys now that they have changed the way they make the reservations? We had a heck of a time getting our reservations for May but I wondered if things were any easier now that you have to give a credit card?

I think you mis read my post Im planning a trip for NEXT year, and Disney have informed me i can do very little till later in the year. However I only read about dinning reservation changes last week and I had planned to ask but real life keeps getting in the way. If Im succesful i wil certainly post here

Oh my mistake..lets blame it on the heat...its only been 100 every day for a week with the same for next week...great midwest summers!

I must say that our breakfast at the castle was well worth the trouble. The kids all liked it...even the boys were impressed by the castle and they liked the fact that it was all you could eat!

Lucky you!! our summers been so wonderful we put the heating on on Friday. And in Scotland its been even worse!
But no need to worry theres no proof of climate change:hammer:
