Character Dining Question

Hi everyone,

New to the boards. We are planning out 9th trip to Disney this year and are going with a group of 6 people. This is including my 2 1/2 year old son and this will be his second trip. We are intending on doing one character breakfast during our 5 day vacation and I have two questions that I KNOW you will all have answers / advice regarding!

1. How far in advance can I call and make reservations.
2. We're considering Chef Mickeys or the Playhouse Disney Breakfast at Hollywood & Vine (for my son, of course). Which would you suggest?

Thanks!

hi

you first qestion depends on where you are plaining to eat, for ex. cindy's royal breackfasts, you have to book, at leat 6 weeks in advanice and then u many have a small chance of getting a place. some of the small place you can book that day, thought f you want it done befor hand i surejest booking before you travle, just to make sure. i not sure about play house disney but i think cheif mickey you have to book in advance.

i went to chef mickey at the age of five a still rember it today, thought i think that play house disney might be a good idea too, as there will be charturtes that your soon will know, aka jojo, and her cricus friends

I guess I'd better get in gear then! And yes, we are staying in the world at Pop Century.

If anyone has any comments on the Playhouse Disney breakfast, I would love to hear them. From glancing at the boards and a few other sites, I gather Chef Mickey's is quite a popular place. But I'm very interested to hear feedback on the Playhouse Disney breakfast!

Thanks!

I have'nt had a personal experiance at Playhouse Disney, but here are a few excerpts I saw on another forum website without disclosing it's name. The reviews are mostly positive.

June 2006. We just got back today from our vacation. We had breakfast here on June 27, 2006. There were many empty tables which made for excellent character time with the kids. The characaters were Jo Jo and Goliath (from Jo Jo's Circus) and June and Leo (from Little Einsteins). There was also someone that came out and did a little song and dance and got the kids involved. Very good entertainment value. As far as the food goes, it's typical breakfast food. My favorite was the waffles. If your kids like the characters here, they will certainly love this place.

We went on the 1st day it opened for breakfast and were the second ones in. The cast are extremely nice and interact great with everyone. We have a 3 year old and he was in his glory. The food is typical for breakfast but that is not why you would go, it would be the characters. The songs were fun for the children and everyone seemed to be having a great time. If you have a child who likes Playhouse Disney this is a must. I would recommend this to anyone and while my son is still into Playhouse Disney I would go back everytime we are at Disney.

7/7/06 Best kept secret in the park. Einsteins and JoJo are my 3 yr old granddaughters favorites, had an 8AM reservation which got us in before park opening, hardly anyone else in restaurant so we had extensive character time, food was great, service wonderful and at 9 we walked right onto Star Tours and Muppets.

My one year old loves Jojo, so I decided he might enojy this dining experience. We had breakfast here on July 19th. The restaurant was not crowded so each character went to each table about 3 times. The atmosphere was great. There were some cast members leading those in the restaurant to dance to the playhouse Disney songs. There even was a cha cha line. The food was good. There was a large variety. My favorite was the cheese gritz. It was nice and creamy! I would recommend this experince to anyone who has young children who love playhouse disney.

Sounds like most guests and their kids really enjoyed it. Go and have a good time. :sohappy:

My 2 1/2yo son and 2yo nephew LOVED the Playhouse Disney breakfast. We met Jojo Goliath Leo and June. They play all the playhouse songs and they dance around the restaurant. We had tons of interaction with all the characters. If your little one likes Jojo &/or Little Einsteins go here!

It depends on what characters your kids want to see. My daughter is big into princesses, so Cinderella's Royal Table is at the top of our list. The food selection and general entertainment value at Chef Mickey's is the best of the ones I've seen, which includes CRT, Donald's Breakfastosaurus at AK, and Akershus Princess Breakfast at Norway in Epcot.

I have no experience with the Playhouse Disney Breakfast, but Chef Mickey's is definitely high on my list of character breakfasts, and we've done most of them.

Try booking a character breakfast in a park BEFORE it opens, then you get to look around a bit and take photos without the crowd and be first at the rope drop too!

Character Breakfasts

Always fun for the kids (us big kids too) We will be doing Playhouse Disney this year, and so far Ive seen nothing negative on it. I would suggest booking a few early and can always change your mind later.

We always do the Garden Grill in Epcot ( it has a revolving restauran which is fun ) and have done Liberty Tree, Chef Mickeys, and Crystal Palace and loved them all.

This year is our daughters 1st bday and we are set for the Palace, and then will also try 1900 Park Fare, Ohana, and Playhouse.

Enjoy!!

I have a question for you all.

When you make breakfast PS, do you take bus transportation or a cab if you do not have car on property? :veryconfu

I am staying at Pop Century in December :xmas: and have PS at 1900 Park Fair at GF at 8:50 am and at Restrauntosauruas at the AK at 8:30. Do I have time to take the bus? If not, does anyone know how much a cab costs and how I go about getting one? I assume I will have to call for one the night before? Here in West Michigan we do not use many cabs, so I am quite ignorant about such things.... :lookaroun :hammer:

You can take the bus to Animal Kingdom, just give yourself at least an hour from leaving your resort. To get to Grand Floridian, take the bus to Magic Kingdom, then the monorail to GF. Again, give yourself plenty of time. The buses to run early enough to accomplish this.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm really looking forward to the character breakfast and I'm going to call and book ASAP. Now I'll just have to convince the other three adults going that it'll be great fun to eat with JoJo and Goliath......

first of all welcome to the boards :sohappy:

as far as the breakfasts go cheif mickeys gets very very busy for breakfast, and i dont know about the other place i never went there, but I would say call atleast 2 weeks before your trip so your in for a spot, it is kind of better to call in advance since you got alot of people going. If you are stayin at the Contemp. I would say go there, then hop on the monorail to the MK or take it to Epcot. OR if you plain on going to MGM that day I say go to the MGM breakfast..
