We will be in the DDP for our trip in June. We want eat at Garden Grill Restaurant on one night and Liberty Tree Tavern another. I kinda remember reading somewhere that the DDP only covers 1 character meal. So would we have to pay out of pocket for the second?

No, definitely not. You can eat at as many character meals as you'd like, and you would only pay out of pocket once all of your table service meals are exhausted. I think you are remembering reading that character meals are equivalent to one TS credit (except for Cinderella's Royal Table, which uses 2) when redeeming your credits, but the dining plan doesn't limit how many you can do. During our 8 night trip over Christmas, we dined at 5 different character meals! So no worries!

I'm not sure if it means that on credit is used for the character meal or if you can only use them for one Character meal during your stay. If you follow the explanation thru I am going to say its the first option... one credit = character meal.

The basic dining plan allows for some flexibility, in that one table service meal may be exchanged for one character dining experience. You may also exchange TWO table service meal credits for ONE "signature dining experience" at one of WDW's best restaurants, such as California Grill. You could also exchange TWO table service meal credits for certain categories of one Disney dinner show, such as the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue, or for In-Room Private Dining (see below).

This is what I read that got me worried. I was concerned that it ment you could only use 1 TS credit PER PERSON PER TRIP for a character meal..... sometimes it is good to be wrong

No, trust me, that is not correct. Disney in no way limits you to only one character meal per person when using the DDP... I agree, it is poorly worded and causes undo confusion.

I know in Sept, I was able to go to Chef Mickey's and Liberty Tree Tavern with the dining plan. (On 2 seperate days) I don't think it's changed since then.

Edit: I understand what they were saying in the allearsnet thing...The basic dining plan allows for some flexibility, in that one table service meal may be exchanged for one character dining experience.

Disney views a table service and a character dining experience as different. (B/c the character dining experiences are usually buffets). What it's saying is you can use your table service meal for a character meal...but just know you'll be giving up the strictness of the dining plan...so you won't get a appetizer, dinner, and dessert. You just get the buffet. (Which typically includes just the dinner portion and dessert.) Hope this explaination helps!
