There are dozens of different character meals at WDW, not just one! Here is a rundown of what they currently offer within Walt Disney World Resort:

MAGIC KINGDOM:

Cinderella's Royal Table: This is located inside the castle, and has character meals at breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is a pre-plated dish, and lunch comes from a menu order. Cinderella is always present. Other characters which may appear include the Fairy Godmother, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Aladdin, Jasmine, and Mary Poppins. Dinner only has the Fairy Godmother.

Crystal Palace: Located at the left-hand corner of Main Street and the central hub (towards Adventureland), Crystal Palace offers a buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Characters include Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet. Rabbit has been known to appear, though not on a regular basis.

Liberty Tree Tavern: Located in Liberty Square, Liberty Tree Tavern serves a family-style dinner very much like a Thanksgiving feast. Characters include (to the best of my knowledge) Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, Chip & Dale; all dressed in Colonial/Revolutionary War-era oufits!

EPCOT:

Akershus: Located in Norway's World Showcase pavillion, Akershus offers Disney Princess-themed character meals at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast is served family-style. Lunch and dinner meals come from menu orders. Characters that may appear include Belle, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine, Esmerelda, Mulan, Ariel, Pocahontas, and Mary Poppins. Cinderella normally does not appear, though she has been known to on a few occasions.

Garden Grill: Located on the top floor of The Land pavillion in EPCOT's Future World, Garden Grill serves family-style meals at lunch and dinner. Characters include Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale.

DISNEY-MGM STUDIOS:

Hollywood & Vine: Hollywood & Vine offers Playhouse Disney-themed character buffets at breakfast and lunch. Characters include Jojo, Goliath, and June & Leo from the Little Einsteins.

ANIMAL KINGDOM:

Currently, Animal Kingdom has a character breakfast at Restaurantosarus, called Donald's Breakfastosarus. This will be discontinued in early November, but will soon relocate to Tusker House, near the Kilamanjaro Safari entrance. The Tusker House breakfast, like the current Breakfastosarus, will be a buffet. Characters scheduled to appear (though tenative as of this post) are Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto.

CONTEMPORARY RESORT:

Chef Mickey's: This restaurant is located in the Contemporary Resort Hotel (the A-framed hotel near the Magic Kingdom entrance) near the Monorail station inside, and serves a buffet at breakfast and dinner. Characters include (correct me if I'm wrong) Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. Chip and Dale used to appear regularly, not sure if they're appearing much anymore. Daisy and Max (Goofy's son) have been known to appear on a few occasions.

GRAND FLORIDIAN

1900 Park Faire: Themed to a turn-of-the-century fair, complete with real carousel horses and a band organ (named Big Bertha), 1900 Park Faire serves buffet meals at breakfast and dinner, both with vastly different sets of characters!

Characters at breakfast are usually Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, Winnie the Pooh, and Tigger. Other characters known to appear include Bert (from Mary Poppins), the White Rabbit, Peter Pan, Eeyore, and Rabbit (from Winnie the Pooh). I heard that weekends often tend to have extra characters for some reason.

Dinner has a Cinderella theme. Currently appearing are Cinderella, Prince Charming, the Fairy Godmother, Lady Tremaine (the wicked stepmother), and Drizella & Anastasia (the ugly stepsisters). Suzy and Perla (the two girl mice from Cinderella) used to appear, but were recently replaced by the stepmother and stepsisters.

POLYNESIAN RESORT

Ohana: A Polynesian-themed family-style breakfast is served here. Characters include Mickey, Pluto, Lilo, and Stitch.

SWAN AND DOLPHIN

Garden Grove Cafe: Located at the Swan hotel, the Garden Grove Cafe holds a character breakfast buffet on Saturday and Sunday, hosted by Goofy and Pluto.

YACHT AND BEACH CLUB

Cape May Cafe: Located at the Beach Club hotel, Cape May Cafe holds an appropriately-themed character breakfast, with the characters in beach garb! This is a buffet meal, which reminds many guests of Chef Mickey's! Characters include Minnie, Goofy, Chip & Dale.

Menus can be found in the menu section of WDWMagic, and at http://www.allearsnet.com .

Hope this helps! :animwink:

I am amazed looking at the list at how many we've been to.

Personally, I like Ohana the best.

Dinner at Akershus was awful, but with the princess' there, it made it worth it anyway. (Did not have breakfast there)

I don't remember prices, but I am sure it was on the expensive side.

Been to.

Ohana
Cape May Cafe
Cinderella's Royal Table
Akershus
Garden Grill
Hollywood & Vine
Chef Mickey's
Donald's Breakfastosarus

My favorite breakfast's are Chef Mickey's & Cyrstal Palace. We had good breakfasts at 1900 Park Fare, Cinderella's Royal Table and Donald's (@ AK). Finally we have heard good things about Cape May Cafe and Ohana but haven't tried them for breakfast.

If you have a little princess of your own, the Princess Breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table is terrific!

My daughter (5) LOVED it. She dressed up and everything! We saw Cindy, Jasmine, Belle, Snow White and Fairy Godmother.

Enjoy!

Welcome to these boards! Don't be sorry for asking questions. That's one of the primary purposes of these forums. And people love to help (as you can see by the responses!). So, ask away, and enjoy.

I hope your trip is magical!

If you're trying to get Cindy's Royal Table, you have to call 180 days prior to either (1) the date you want if you are staying off-site or (2) the date you arrive at your Disney property hotel. Call at 8 AM Eastern time promptly. It sells out very quickly, normally within hours, especially during busy times. If you're staying on-property, you'll have an advantage. The time of year you are going is not normally too busy, but not the slowest either. Sep 1 is a bank holiday here, so Sun and Mon may be busy days.

Cindy's also offers a character lunch, which I believe is a bit easier to get. In any case, if you really want Cindy's and can't get in, keep calling back for cancellations, especially right before your trip. My colleague and I both got cancellations for Cindy's RT for lunch only one week prior, and ended up there at the same time (and we didn't even know that the other family was going to be in WDW!).

We're not big breakfast people anymore, but we went when the kids were younger for the characters, and it's a great way to see them. Our favorite was Breakfastosaurus at Restaurantosaurus, but that's being discontinued, unfortunately. Maybe Tusker House breakfast will be as good or better when they open. That should be open by the time you get there.

Our second favorite was 1900 Park Faire. We saw Mary Poppins, Alice, and several other characters from wonderland, like the mad hatter (although I notice he's not listed anymore).

Mostly we try to do character lunches or dinners. The food at the breakfasts is more or less the same everywhere. The lunches and dinners have more variety between restaurants, and you get the characters as well. If you're interested in lunches and dinners as well with characters, then post again and you'll get lots more advice.

I agree! For little girls who love the princesses, Cinderella's Royal Table is the ultimate. 1st, you are actually in the castle! While waiting, you are in the throne room and Fairy Godmother comes in and the girls/kids can meet her and get pix. When called for your seating, you ascend a staircase to the dining room which is very pretty and as you eat, the princesses come around to your table and your kids get one on one time with each and every one of them. They talk to them, get autographs and photographs and you never have to line up or leave your table. The times we've been, it was Cinderella & Prince, Snow White, Belle, Aurora and Mary Poppins. The food's not bad either. We actually preferred breakfast. It was preplated, but they serve a nice variety and you can get more of anything you want. It's a little pricey, but everything is. It was well worth the cost for the experience.

Yes, it's a bit pricey, and hard to reserve, but well worth it if you have girls. I'd very highly recommend it (but as I've said we prefer lunch - I've never had the breakfast there, but lunch was quite good!).

IMO only.... but I think most agree

Chef Mickeys and CRTable are by for the best character bfastes around. Food, characters everything about it.

If going to CM, go early so you can be back at MK or whatever park by opening...Myself, I would do CM on a day I was doing MK and hit it first thing at 7.

You might be surprised....my son loves eating in the castle, because he thinks the castle is cool. They give the boys a prince sword (the girls get a magic wand). He does not care much about the princesses, but I could tell he was in awe of seeing Cinderella for the first time (he was 5 the first time we ate there). Of course he does not run up to her like my daughter, but I could see a little smile on his face, and he got shy when Cinderella talked to him!

I did it once, with my two girls. I am glad I did it once with them, but I would not do it again.

The whole thing was rush, rush, rush, to get everyone out so. Picture with Cindy - snap snap, now go upstairs. Then you get served the standard steam table WDW breakfast fare. Same quality of food you would get at a value food court, for for 4x the price. The characters come around and stay for a few seconds. Then the servers come and "hover" over the table to get you to leave.

Am I glad I did it - yes, it is something to experence and my girls did ADORE it and I enjoyed seeing their enjoyment. But from an adult persepctive, not so hot. I much perfer the Norwary Princess Breakfast.

I agree Dave. You barely spend any time with the princesses at CRT. And--maybe it was just the timing of our experience--the princesses there were not as friendly, outgoing or in character as the one's we met throughout the park. Especially Belle.

I agree with many of the points the two of you have made.

However, don't forget the cool "wand and sword waving over the wishing star" ceremony, which was cool. Also, our princesses were very friendly, but a bit time limited, as you say. We were not rushed out at all, in fact had trouble getting the servers attention for more coffee, which he promptly brought with lots of "her you are m'lady" etc. The kids got a kick out of the server calling them "princess" and "your highness", and us "m'lord", and "m'lady". A lot of adults have had enough of that after the first time, but all the kids seem to love it.

Also, because I had heard that the food is just ordinary, as Dave said, I chose lunch (not that I had much of a choice - lunch was available!). The food was really good. Not huge quantities, but some of the most delicious food I've had in WDW.

However, we've done it once now, and probably won't do it again, unless DD9 begs us before our next trip, and she could be 11 or 12 by then, so I don't think she will.

But, you've got to do it once. I recommend lunch.

We've also done Akershus. A lot of people don't like the food. We were disappointed, because it was the first princess week ever, and they had discontinued the cold appetizer buffet until they got the princesses' routine down to keep a little more order, and that is one of the main reasons we went! I think it's back again, so we may go next time, but only if the cold buffet is back! Anyway, we thought the food was pretty good, though, but small portions. The food is a bit out of the ordinary, so I think it puts some people off, but we are food adventurers, so it was ok for us.

Whatever you choose, I hope you have a magical time with lots of magical character meals and other encounters!

I think that being rushed and the personalities of the characters all come down to luck with every character meal. Our first time at CRT was great....did not feel rushed, all of the characters were very nice and very into it and spent alot of time at our table. The second time, we felt very rushed. Same thing with Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace....we have had awesome interaction at both....and we have felt rushed at both. I think it is hard to make a generalized statement about the quality of character interaction at any character meal......your experience, good or bad, really comes down to luck and somtimes timing.
