Absolute and total bull****. I personally know an Exec who sat next to Chapek in a mtg, and at one point Chapek actually said “I don’t really care what you do, as long as I look good”....and this was said in all seriousness. He is dangerous, he is heartless, and he is only looking out for himself. He should get the boot.
Lets not delve into being emotionally reactive here. I hardly find him dangerous or heartless based on his actions (I'm speaking from actual experience, not "feelings"), but I do find him lacking in the ability to successfully lead a profitable theme park empire but also managing with ensuring the guest has the best experience. Too often, he's been leading the Theme Parks with his Consumer Products mindset. Furthermore, he still fails to understand the Florida property properly.
He'll never get the boot, being that Consumer Products continues to run relatively well under his helm. If anything, I can see the theme parks being divested from his control in the next year if he can't figure out the equilibrium between increasing costs while keeping crowds stable. His greedy tactics in trying to increase revenue (Parking Fee's at resorts, insane ticket price increases, a diminished cast discount (and availability) on resorts at WDW) have slowly showed themselves to be counter productive in the long run.
