Changing plans - Can we keep ADRs?

I booked our vacation for October thinking we would be back in March for spring break. Then DH announces he has a conference to go to in March and our spring break trip is cancelled. So now I want to upgrade our hotel, but don't want to lose all the Dining Reservations I made based upon the old reservation. We have the dining plan included in it.

How do you go about changing your reservations without losing your ADRs?

I don't think room reservations and ADR's are linked. We changed our travel dates through reservations then had to call to cancel/change our ADRs separately. You may want to call and and tell them that you have changed your resort, but I don't think the ADRs will be cancelled/changed without you calling and doing so. You could always call and ask.

Mostly it has me worried because every reservation I made they asked for my confirmation number, hotel, arrival date, and if I was on the Dining Plan.

They changed the dates of our vacation without changing the reservation number. I think if you just call and give them the new info, you won't have to cancel/rebook any ADRs. But like Nemo said.....JPVonDrake should be here to help soon. He is most helpful and extremely knowledgeable (he works there!).

The ADR's are not tied with your room. I would ask the CM to change your resort on your ADR's just in case Disney Dining has to get in touch with you at your resort.

I can confirm that all of your dine reservations are booked through another system and are in no way connected to your room reservation. Also as other have said, there is no need to call to change or modify any dine reservations due to a room reservation change.

When you book dining, we do ask:

Where are you staying, when do you check in? This is for the vert rare occasion we need to contact you should the restaurant not be able to honor your dine reservation. Even if you modified your room reservation and change resorts, we will be able to still locate you, so no need to worry.

Are you on a vacation package that includes dining? This is simply to ensure that the restaurant you choose is participating on your meal plan, and to inform you of any policies pertaining to your plan (i.e., if the location is a signature restaurant requiring 2 meal entitlements, etc.) and if the location requires a credit card deposit or guarantee, we can charge your credit card correctly.

Are you part of a Grand Gathering? This is to link your dine reservation to your pre-printed itinerary, a free perk of being part of a Grand Gathering. Again, this does not connect your dining to your room reservation, only to your printed itinerary.

May I have your room reservation number? This should only be asked if you are booking your dining more then 180 days in advance and we need to verify you qualify for the 180 day plus 10 booking window (i.e. Disney Resort Guests may start booking their dining 180 days prior to their resort arrival date, up to the first 10 days of their stay; non-resort Guests can only book 180 days prior to the date they wish to dine.)

JPVonDrake, YOU ROCK! Thanks for all the great information you have given everyone. I love to read your posts and you always seem to know what we need help with. The 180 plus information is great. I can start my ADR requests in a couple of weeks for the whole stay! AWSOME.
