Changes to Rides

This thread isn't about getting rid of any rides, but do you have any thoughts on things you'd like to see possibly added or changed to existing rides at WDW? I know I'd like to see Big Thunder Mountain Railroad speeded up a bit. It seemed to go a lot slower than I remembered, the last time I rode it. I think the ending of the Spaceship Earth ride could use some jazzing up a bit too. Star Tours could use a significant rehab of the entire ride itself, hopefully they will go with the Pod Racing theme. Space Mountain could use an updating of its queue. The queue should stay as dark as it is with the star-field music playing, but the overhead projection of space with asteroids and comets could use an effects-updating. I think they need to re-do the entire dinosaur sequence at Universe of Energy. It's tired and dated. I'm sure the animatronics can be greatly improved.

I'd like to see the Country Bears be more advanced animatronic-wise...it's time for Disney to invest in a new, and hopefully MORE advanced animatronics system...

I would like to see HM and SE updated as far as their sound systems are. You can hardly hear the narration over the props and other sounds including the squeaking from the cars.

Star Tours definitely needs it. It gets really old really quick.

The Mexico ride needs updated. The effects are really outdated and the ride doesn't reflect today's Mexico.

I'd like to see Jungle Cruise updated with more realistic animals or taken out completely. I know its a classic, but it is old and with AK it doesn't really need to be there any longer.

BTMR could use being updated for faster ride. I don't know if it would be safe or not.

I'd like to see Snow White updated with more of her in it.

Country Bears could use new figures with more movement.

Others could too, but if they decided to rehab/update everything needed, then there would be no rides open.

Well there shouldn't be any trace of Snow White in the ride. The whole idea the Imagineers came up with was that the rider was Snow White and they were experiencing it from her point of view. This is not made clear to the rider. And they further confused people by adding her to the end of the ride.

Hmm, I think that two rides that I noticed have the major "Is it over allready?" factor are Pirates of the Carribean and Maelstrom. Pirates is such a great ride, but it ends awfully abruptly. A simple narraration saying a sort of goodbye would be good and make it fantastic. As for Maelstrom, at the end, after you go down the drop by the oil drilling platform, they should have the narrator say something like "Behold, the spirit of Norway. These would be simple additions and would make the rides fantastic.

Well, on Norway, he does say at the end "But the Spirit of Norway is, and will always be, adventure.

not sure how they would make big thunder faster...and still keep the family appeal of the ride. Personally, I'm ready for that fabled random drop sequence on the tower of terror. And now that Dinosaur is old news...change the name back to Countdown to Extinction!

Big Thunder...faster? I wouldn't mind that, but that means that those stupid bumps that make me :hurl: and also come faster...and the ride would be less in time...

i'm pretty sure that tower already has the new chip. i could be mistaken, but my buddy who was a cp at fantasmic, tower, and rockin' said that they got the new chip in october. i rode the ride a bunch of times while down there and it did seem different every time. we once only did like two drops, and then later that same day we did four drops from the top to the bottom. maybe you are talking about something else, though.

Yeah, I know, well, if not a small added naration, then a short musical fanfare thing would be good.

...most of the last 10 minutes of Spaceship Earth are a BIG time snoozer....except for that breathtaking view of Planet Earth.

I really like it. I ALWAYS love to see the small model of SE...and the music...and when you look above...oh, it's great...so inspiring...so relaxing...captures the real spirit...if only the track wasn't so loud and cranky! :lol:

i love spaceship earth the way it is. that is one attraction i will never get tired of. a pod race theme for star tours would be excellent. i don't think the jungle cruise really appeals to anyone now that the animal kingom is open. i think they should replace that with the indiana jones coaster that's in disneyland paris.

Without changing something new for something old, I think some additions need to be added to JUNGLE CRUISE. I love this ride, but it needs something that'll make people come back to it, again. CM's are not as "realistic" as before, and they prefer to mantain comic reliefs to the many situations interacting with the audience. Maybe this is a result of all those animals being real in Animal Kingdom and so people are not so interested in seeing just animatronics of them...Something's need to be done.

In no way does SE need to be removed. The track just needs to be made quieter. The way it usually is, no one care hear anything but the track. Although there are some reports of it is quieter now for some reason.
