"NEW in 2012! You will need to search for clues along your 5K Trek to help you solve the 5 Clues at the end before you can complete the 5th Adventure Expedition Everest Challenge. At the completion of the run, trekkers will return to the Butterfly Lot to complete their clues for the scavenger hunt. Remember those 5 clues along the way, they will help you reach the summit. After the clues have been solved they will reveal an answer that will lead trekkers to the party."

Not sure if I like that or not.

It was fun having the run first and then racing thru the park again in the dark gathering clues.

I don’t like the change either. Didn’t they try something like this in the last Tower of Terror Race? I remember reading race reports where people missed the clues during the run so they just finished the race without them.

So where are the obstacles now? Are those also during the run or have they done away with them.

I did the inaugural E:E challenge and there were problems with that race as well. One of the problems was knowing your 5K finish time. Another was the waves that had people still waiting to start the challenge long after the first wave runners were finished with the whole thing!

Good luck to those who do the 5th anniversary challenge. Hard to believe 5 years have elapsed already.

I am considering trying to make it down for this. I'd love to hear more about how the past challenge was done. What sorts of obstacles were there?

Wonder why they did this.....yeah, the hunt part of the challenge was kind of crazy last year, but it was a blast running from section to section of the park to solve another riddle.

Yeah, they did something a whole lot like this for the final TOT13K race. You had to look for clues to figure out who committed a "murder." I feel blasphemous even saying these words about something Disney, but honestly, it was the stupidest thing I'd ever encountered in a race. It was at night so it was dark, the course was crowded, and it was impossible to collect and solve clues while running unless you completely stopped at every clue to study it. I didn't bother, and I felt disappointed in the whole concept. :veryconfu

They might be able to pull this off with the Everest Challenge. The crowd size is very small, and the corrals are very spread out as well, helping the pack to stay thin.

How small would you say the crowd is? I'd love to do a Disney race but the idea of a "big" race really scares me.

Maybe the solved clues will tell us when the Yeti will be fixed! ha LOL
