I know all of you wdw experts will be able to help me out with this one. I have an adult corn snake (in case yall dont know its about 2 and a half feet long and as thick as a small garden hose) and I was wondering what the hotel policies were on having pets other then dogs and cats in the hotel. We are staying at Shades of Green. Any thoughts as to if they would allow us to keep our snake with us for our stay? Thanks.

Call down there and see, they should be able to answer you on it. Or you can always email them. (I'm sure someone on here will be able to answer before anyone at Disney though.)

Just make sure you don't ask Brad about snakes. :zipit:

While snakes don't bother me in the least, many many people absolutely freak out around them.

Without checking with SOG, I am 100% sure that a snake, no matter how cuddly and well-secured, would not be allowed in a hotel room.

...and I'm not positive if the WDW kennels would take it either.

Just curious--why are you travelling with a reptile??

I actually dont have anybody to take care of it, I know they can go for a while without eating but we'll be gone for about 12 days. But I figured that the hotel wouldnt allow it. I just sent an e-mail so we shall see.

Good grief! Just don't let me know if I ever end up in a room next to you when you have a snake in there *shudder*. I can't handle snakes at all - just seeing them on TV makes my hands sweat!

Pets are not allowed, period.

Unless your snake provides physical assistance to you, you will need to make other arrangments.

A seeing-eye snake. :)

Seriously, I worked at a pet shop before and sometimes we would pet sit. Do you have a shop around you that could do that? We were forever watching birds, hamsters, spiders (yuck),all sorts of stuff. That is something to look into. Good luck

that's really sad that they won't take pets... I wanted to take my two birds with me last time we went. They missed us so much. My one is like a lil person we could have camoflauged him lol! He talks and everything! The types of birds that we have are wild in FL anyways I believe, so we could have just said we caught them.... like we do the lizards ;)

I dont think you are going to get a positive response about the snake. Once house keeping saw it, they would ask you to remove it from the room. Having your local reptile store snake sit would be the best option. I have had snakes in the past and no matter how well you plan when you travel, it seems like you allways have a mishap. The last thing you want to have to do is explain why you are looking for your pet snake that you lost.

When are you making your trip. If in the fall time of year, why not leave it in the car. In the fall, it would not be too cold or too hot. Go out everyday to check on it and let fresh air in......snakes shouldnt require a whole lot of air....

Vets usually board pets, too. BTW, my daughter has been begging for a corn snake for ages. What is the weekly maintenance on them?

All I have to say is......EEK!

Maybe a neighbor, or friend could watch your pet. That's what I'm gonna do for my fish...cuz I doubt that my fish would like to be packed in my pocket, and taken to a Disney resort. :)

Funny that they allow kids but not pets. I bet a snake does way less destruction than a child hyped on sugar screaming I wanna go to the parks I wanna go to the parks.

Corn snakes require very little care. The only imparitive things are to change the water everyday(especially if they deficate in it) and to make sure the top layer of substrate is scooped out once a week. Other then that, all you have to do is feed them once every 10 days (if they are an adult) and give the cage a good cleaning once a month. They make for very cool, and gentle pets.
