CEO & Pixar Pals Countdown

Did Bob see it too.....I heard it was Tom Staggs who was very displeased to put it mildly? Either way, I'm glad someone from HQ was able to see the inferior product that TDO is allowing to be peddled to the WDW masses. (I actually fired off a respectful BUT truthful email to Bob after I saw the debut of the Countdown to (NO) Fun Parade).

Does Bob or Tom have an e-mail that they actually read? If so, what are the addresses?

It was probably something along the lines of this:

Ent Manager "Were still over budget this year what with Fant!, AI experience, the new Disney channel rocks, and BPB. We already cut Fant! to fund AIE and well, we don't want to cut our new Disney Channel rocks show so I think we can save money by cutting out all the high energy performers, acrobats, and equity performers from BPB and bring in a new parade."

VP of DHS: "great! your budget is $5 for the new parade. Is that enough?"

Ent Producers and show directors: "Yeah, well just reuse everything, I think we have some really old paint behind Fant! that we can use to paint the block floats, I guess we can keep the BPB costumes and props. No one will even notice and for music we can use the Pixar Play Parade music and just edit out the 'Play! Play! It's the Play Parade!' lyric line and insert the new parade name so no one will know."

Ent Manager: "Hmmmm, that music edit will put us $1 over budget."

Ent Producers and show directors: "Thats okay! We will just take the Countdown to Fun lyric and use that for the parade title. No one will notice that the music is blatantly calling the parade the Play Parade."

VP of DHS: "excellent! I approve of these changes!"

Ent Managers, Producers and show directors: "Great! That saves us from having to have Imagineering or creative entertainment develop a new parade!"

Bob Iger, Meg Crofton, and Tom Staggs: "DHS has a new parade?"
Sadly, I don't doubt this... at all. They literally spent almost no money at all in the "conversion."

It really makes me sad that Disney World Entertainment keeps getting cut down like this. You would think as the worlds #1 entertainment company they could handle making good entertainment in their parks.....just makes me sad

I do think that emails and letters need to be sent to people that may actually want to and have power to make changes. I think John Lasseter could be the savior of Pixar Pals and in a greater scale WDW. He has a passion for many things including and especially the parks and Pixar. Pixar being the theme of this parade.

Whether or not he actually checks it but is John Lasseter's email, John.Lasseter@disney.com?

Good luck, but that email won't go anywhere but an electronic trash bin.

I posted this in the other Countdown To Fun thread, but it's apt here as well...

It's a widely accepted policy in corporate America that no one over the rank of Vice President uses their "real" email name for business. Top executives have a secret email account using the standard corporate address format, but substituting a wifes maiden name or childs nickname or some other such identifier for their usual surname. Disney executives are no different.

Anyone who tries to email Bob Iger or Tom Staggs or even Meg Crofton by using the typical Robert.Iger@disney.com type format will, at best, just get their note sent to a corporate collection bin where a cubicle dweller will give it a quick glance before maybe forwarding on to the appropriate corporate communications department for a processed form response. At worst, the email to the unused executive account will just sit in an unused account until a faceless IT administrator cleans it out every few weeks.

Those execs will never see the email, and will never even know it existed or was received.

For the record, Tom Staggs is the Chairman of Parks & Resorts. Tom is not the CEO of the Company. Bob Iger is the CEO, and he hasn't been to WDW in quite some time.

For the record TP, Iger was in fact at WDW during the time of the press event. That is a fact, whether or not he saw the parade is a rumor but a pretty valid one from what I've been told. You are correct about emails though, the best shot of an impact are continuous verbal complaints to Guest relations.

Anyone gone over to Guest Relations at EPCOT to complain about the very low budget Christmas decorations and still missing Lights of Winter?

And of course the deplorable condition and lousy ride in JIIwF and empty WOL.
AK- The Disco Yeti disaster. DHS - The BAH. MK- Tiki Room UNM, SGE, MI laugh floor and others I could mention for all parks.

How about our "pal" Jim McPhee?

Thats fine and dandy and all but we are kinda trying to focus on the Studios abysmal parade in this thread. There are plenty of other threads that have already discussed those issues to death.

I know this is off topic, but can someone please explain the major dislike people on this forum seem to have with MI Laugh Floor? I think it is an amazing attraction and I know plenty of other people who do and would be very upset if it left. So please, inlighten me.

It all comes down in the most simplest answer to two things: Location and Screens

How about our "pal" Jim McPhee?

He's vice president of Special Projects (including NextGen) and all of the other park VP's report to him. However, vice presidents have significant control of what goes on in their parks, from operations to how money for refurbs and maintenance is spent (though not necessarily the size of said budgets).

Most fanboys tout Jim McPhee as the Luke Skywalker of WDW, but can't name a thing he's done (or attempted to do) for EPCOT besides the 25th Anniversary celebration (which wasn't under his jurdisdiction, and the decision to take down the Wand was made before he came.) I'm not saying the man has bad intentions, but the majority of people support the guy wholeheartedly and can't even name three good things that he did. That being said, I've yet to hear a bad thing about MacPhee, but I wonder how much power he really is, what has been the result of his decisions, and why there have been a tremendous amount of bad decisions made since he's taken over. Perhaps his hands are tied.

Actually the 25th anniversary was under his jurisdiction, he replaced Brad Rex who had ZERO plans for anything, but Jim decided to change it and set up a celebration.

I too was wondering what exactly it was he has done, I cant name anything nor has there been anything specific except he seems to be a nice likeable person. He may have been able to have the 25th anniversary get a mention, but I wouldnt call it a celebration by any means.

I also "heard" AIE was part of the reason why Block Party got taken out; something to do with the budget and how money was still being pumped into that. It's doubtful Mark Renfrow, Jason Surrell or TDO would never admit that though.

Seriously, AIE sure is causing a lot of problems for entertainment at DHS. It kills one of the best parades and cuts down the schedule of F! Really maybe they should just close AIE instead of it causing all these other cut backs. If these cutbacks were in exchange for something equally as good that would be one thing, but these cutbacks are all because of AIE.

It might very well have to do with that, considering AIE has, what, 4 Equity performers to pay? I'm sure that brings the running costs of that experience way up, probably enough to justify eliminating the Equity performers that were in BPB.
