We have not been to WDW for just over two years, but last time we were there our cell phones did not work very well. We are with Verizon, and I am wondering if it has gotten any better?

I know that they've put up a few towers on property and disguised them as trees, lol. I think there are a few others attatched to some of the buildings. Don't know about Verizon but ours worked fine.

Sprint & AT&T worked well too. Of course, please don't foget to turn off the ringer when on rides and in shows.

EDIT: Just wanted to let you know that some places, like the Whispering Canyon Cafe, don't take kindly to people using their phone during a meal...I've seen a gentleman escorted out and told to return when the call was over. :lookaroun

Also we had a boat captain refuse to pull away from the dock until this one guy hung up his phone (he was load and had been on the phone the entire time we waited for the boat)...he refused because he was on a business call. He and his family were escorted off the boat to the cheers of the rest of the passengers.

I just leave mine on vibrate and keep it in my pocket because half the time I don't hear it when it rings.... one of the perks of old age I guess!

Not really, because most of the time I don't hear my phone ring either. It really has to do with all the background and people noise. I know it doesn't seem like it, but the background music they play in MK is louder than you think.

I also get great service at the parks and I have Sprint.

cell phone

No issues with Verizon service as of may this past year.

If you cant get up once your phone rings so as not to disturb others having a meal then you should have your phone shoved.....ooops that not very Disneylike.

We use Sprint as well and didn't have any problems, although, I have to admit, I wasn't really talking on the cell that much either!

Also, I am proud to say that I leave mine on vibrate and would NEVER answer during a ride or show:lol:

Yeah I usually leave mine on vibrate or off... I always go with my wife so there is no one else i care to talk to whom would be important enough to interrupt my WDW time :)

Had good service with Verizon in the past, however at POR in some of the rooms we have stayed I didnt have service at all and others had it all the way back to the sink. I just went outside and had no problem using it.

We have Cingular and it works just fine. I send text messages to my mom while we are down there. She is deaf and it is easier to let her know we arrived safely by simply sending a text message. She has an OGO and it works there as well. Coverage can be iffy sometimes inside a hotel room. We don't usually take the cell phone into the parks with us, but had to this last trip since we were waiting to hear back from the dealership about our car. It left us on the side of the road on our way there last year. The coverage was good in the parks.

Thanks for the info. A couple of years ago we had alot of dropped calls and roaming charges added because of the service so we wanted to know if it got better before we use them this time, and it sounds like it has!:)
