The new "parade" that's not really a parade at all just opened this weekend at Disneyland. It's cute and peppy and very upbeat. It's not really a good replacement for the Parade of Dreams, but it has its valid points as well.

Here's a good video from the first evenings performance on Main Street USA this weekend. See what you think, although the last four or five minutes are my favorite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLy23itMhVs&feature=channel

^Second. I haven't seen it in person, but it looks 10x better then Move it, Shake it, Celebrate it, and Celebrate a Dream Come True Combined.

Love the "You can't stop the beat" moments, and how all the characters get on the back of bikes at the end. Very festive, upbeat, and high energy. My first thought was that it could be our 40th anniversary parade, as Disneyland is rumored to get a new parade for it's 55th next year, but then I thought it was way------too similar to Move It, et al. But hey, weirder things have happened.

Isn't it interesting how two Disney properties in America can be given the corporate instruction to "create an upbeat street party for the new Celebrate! campaign, and have it ready for the spring"?

And then they come up with two very different things with different levels of quality.

WDW does Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It!

Disneyland does Celebrate! A Street Party

The often wildly different ways of doing business between the two American parks never cease to fascinate me.

Looks fun I like it not too sure about the "I Love Rock n Roll" segment but everything seems to work really well with each other. Gota love the costumes. I would love to see this at night with the parade lights on and the LED sets on the floats going. Also if you look closely theres a set of the moving LED lights on top of the regular parade light towers.

Yeah, it was so much fun seeing Mary Poppins and Bert rockin' out to "I Love Rock n Roll" [/sarcasm]

Honestly though, I think the Fab Five should be the only characters in the "street party". It was just too awkward seeing Mary Poppins dancing to Ricky Martin's "Cup of Life"

Sorry for such a bump but now that it gets dark early and the park closes early on weekdays Celebrate! A Street Party has a few night time performances. It looks great! the parade lights along with the lights on the floats, bikes and the bookend units all help make for an even better look and I imagine the performers are loving the night performances too.
