Cedar Fair & Six Flags to merge…

Both companies have had their problems…the crack in Fury 325 at Carowinds, the part that fell off and severely injured a woman on Top Thrill at Cedar Point…Six Flags Great Adventure had the El Toro coaster closed for a year due to structural problems…both companies have suffered problems and HOPEFULLY between the two entities, things will improve. I realize CF was exonerated for the Top Thrill incident, the jury is still out on El Toro, but the PR optics were horrible. Let’s see if they could move forward in a positive direction.
I think Intamin and Islands of Adventure are one and the same; they work well together, when they’re good they’re great (VC, Top Thrill, Potter), and when they’re bad, they’re god-awful (Green Lantern, Top Thrill, Toon Lagoon)

It’s funny how Top Thrill was purposely built several feet shorter to keep SFGA’s Kingda Ka as the tallest coaster and now the company competition will be over…

if it’s possible to see a return of Hanna Barbera to some parks like Kings Island Canada’s Wonderland

I'd go just to see them again and be a kid for a day.

You sure about that? Top Thrill was built before Kingda Ka. It opened in 2003, while Kingda Ka opened in 2005.

Kingda Ka: 456’
Top Thrill: 420’
Thank you. I know the heights.

You said that Top Thrill was purposely built shorter then Kingda Ka, but how could that be if Top Thrill was built first?

Shouldn't it be, Kingda Ka was purposely built taller than Top Thrill Dragster so that Six Flags could take the title?

Sure…makes sense…(I didn’t know when Top Thrill was built…)

One thing I do hope that's implemented in their park chain is this....The chaperone policy..

After the incidents at SFGAm I was really hoping this would come to the parks but, sadly it hasn't and this would be an interesting move to see it ruled out throughout the chain.

I'm rewatching the Defunctland on Astroworld, and here's a question for anyone who knows: why do companies always take the Six Flags name? Isn't this the third time this has happened? It's not exactly a good name, so why use it?

While the Six Flags name does have bad reputation, it is at least recognized and people know what it is. Compare that to the Cedar Fair name and their parks. Most people don't know that brand well.

Agree, Cedar Fair doesn't put their brand on everything. It's not "Cedar Fair's Kings Island" or "Cedar Fair's Michigan Adventure." Also, being a merger, I think Six Flags wanted something to show they still exist, and I'd bet the Cedar Fairs Stock name is WAY more important than the Cedar Fair's park name. I will be interested if they try to add all the Six Flags names to things, or if it is treated similar to how Cedar Fairs has been.

Cedar Fair.....
It came from their first two parks they owned..
Cedar Point + Valley Fair = Cedar Fair...

Correct, but they didn't plaster it in front of all the park names
Interestingly, the early 90's when Time Warner took over and had added Astroworld it was the only park in the chain that went thru the route Cedar Fair went not using it as a first name basis but, being part of the chain...It wasn't until the early 00's until that was changed..
