I will be staying at the CBR while a child who has a walking disability. What is the best and closest village to stay at for bus transportation and the food court while there?

Thanks in advance!

I stayed at CBR with my mom for a short trip over my birthday. I was so thankful it was a short trip. I personally do not like the set up of this resort at all. I like to be able to walk relatively quickly to the food/shopping area.

One morning I walked up to the food and it took me 9 minutes one way to get there and i walk fast. I may be in the minority but I will never consider this resort again.

Upon arrival we waited 55 minutes for a bus to MK. It seemed like the bus filled before it got to out stop so they changed their sign and drove on to the park. This must have happened repeatedly.

We like to check our luggage on departure day then grab a bite to eat while we wait for magical express. Not at this resort. Food was too far from the front desk and airline check in to walk to and there was no way we had time to ride the shuttle.

I know I didn't actually answer your question, but that's because I would change resorts.

The bridge from aruba and Jamaica is out of action for now but assuming the work will be done when you get there, I would choose a building just over the bridge. The buildings either side of port royale are much closer but are preferred and cost extra. If you want to guarantee you're within a short walk you could see what the extra cost would be? The ones across the bridge are not too much of a walk and the walk is lovely. Aruba 51 or Jamaica 45 are closest to bridge and would be my ideal buildings. You can request these but are not guaranteed. I think you need to call to request such specific buildings as online check in asks about more vague requests like ground or first floor rooms, etc. We stayed in the pirate rooms and they're furthest from amenities, although we knew this and weren't going to be at the resort much. We traded accessibility for cool room theming. Having said that, the resort is lovely and we would stay again but we want to try other resorts on our next trips.
It is a spread out resort, lush and tropical, but big. Multiple bus stops can be an issue when it's busy as a bus could get to the last few stops and already be full!! They do send another "straight away" but it still costs you in wait time. Pretty sure Jamaica is one of the earlier stops but if there are problems you can walk over to port royale which is usually a middle pick up, I think. There are 2 ways buses enter the resort and it depends which they enter and where they are going as to which stop is first.
Pool is fab and grounds are gorgeous. We didn't eat in resort but shutters restaurant has a new chef and it's getting decent reviews. We enjoyed our stay but, if we were spending more time at the resort, would want a closer building and might consider a preferred room, depending on price, or would request a building just across the bridge and keep my fingers crossed they honoured my request.

The family was there in August and we stayed in Martinique and loved it, walk was very short and this is our most favorite resort we have been to thus far.

First night of our last trip we ate at Shutters and it was one of the best dinners we had all week. Wait staff was very attentive and I liked that it was a bit smaller and intimate than some of the other table service restaurants.

We always stay at Martinique Building 23 or 24. They are convenient to a bus stop. Martinique 26 is fairly close to Old Port Royale as is Trinidad North 31. You should make sure they know about your specific needs and they should work hard to accommodate you. You can also fax in or call in to CBR 3 days or so prior to your arrival date and let them know of your specific needs. If you haven't been there before and don't have one, maps of CBR are readily available on-line through a Google search.

I tried requesting Martinique due to special needs (walking challenges) of my mother. They took my request but did not honor it. I called from the airport (I received a text with room number) to see if it was missed or not possible. I was told that was not an option since we did not have a preferred room. Just want you to be aware of how that went for me.

What's the bus path on pickups / returns?

As far as I remember (and somebody may correct me on this), the order the bus goes round the resort is Jamaica - Aruba - Barbados - Martinique - Old Port Royale - Trinidad North - Trinidad South for all destinations except DTD. For DTD, it seemed to pick up and drop off at Martinique first and then continue in order.

Certainly that was my experience.

Jamaica is where we ended up and we waited 55 minutes for MK bus. We were told the buses were full so they switched their sign and drive on by. So in May we couldn't have been the first stop.

I didn't think of that. We always get a preferred room.

We stayed at ASMo with another group that needed an accessible room that was close to the main building. They said they could give an accessible room in any of the outlying buildings but to be next to the main building we needed to upgrade to a preferred room. I guess it makes sense with the availability of wheelchairs and scooters. We just paid the little bit extra (at the value resorts its only about $10/night) and moved closer.
