Hello all,

In count down phase to first trip of 2010 to the World (Jan 4-13). 9 Year old DS wants to go fishing and I wondered if anyone knows if there are catch & release opportunities at WDW if we are NOT staying on-site? I know some of the resorts offer it, but we are renting a house in Davenport so not on-stire this time.

Thanks!

Yes. You will just have to get to one of the locations that offers the tours. I know for sure that Fort Wilderness is one location and I believe the Contemporary as well.

They offer catch and release fishing at Port Orleans Riverside. Since you have to pay for the activity you don't have to be staying at the resort to partake. There are also a number of fishing excursions from the various resorts with marinas. They are quite pricey in comparison to Port Orleans though.

What type of catch and release are you talking about.

There is catch and release from a dock, where they give you a cup of worms, a can pole, and say have at it.

Sunnies and perch is about all you get.

Thats at PO:Riverside, and somewhere else I believe. It's fun if you have small kids or have never fished before. But it gets old pretty quickly.

Then there are the guided bass fishing tours. I have never taken one, but from what I hear they are top notch.

As was said, all of these are pay activities, so no need to be staying on property. Disney is more than happy to take your off property dollars.

1) There are three fishing excursions daily (take the earliest one!).
2) You can leave from WL, CR, GF, Poly, POFQ, SSR, OKW.
3) They will meet you at your dock.
4) If staying off-site, you just go to the resort selected.
5) For best fishing, take Seven Seas Lagoon & Bay Lake tours.
6) Lots of fun, and usually lots of fish (at least early in the morn).

My DH took one on our last trip from the Contemporary for the earliest tour (i believe it was around 7) and He LOVED it!!! we will be doing it as a family most likely next trip. He said it was a nice break from the fast paced days that I usually drag him thorugh, lol. It was a bit pricey, but to be able to do his favorite thing in one of his favorite places just made it that much better!
