It was more of a set piece than an actual truck, and as such it was destroyed.

Marni's right, it was a 'prop', what Americans would call a propane gas tank truck. Being a bit of a fix-r-upper it was sold to Cuba, now that the boycott has been lifted. Where it is used to drive dangerous liquids through Havana.

I have an interesting piece of info on this topic. Not much, but a little.

I know of someone that I follow on Periscope that did a video of different Disney items that they have in their home. And wouldn't you guess it. They have the grill from this truck in their living room. Not sure how they got it. I imagine that they know a CM in Imagineering or someone working the demo. I should have taken a screen shot of that at the time. It was pretty cool to see that at least a small part of this lives on in Memorabilia land.
Personally I think that they should take more pieces and items like this and sell them to super Disney collectors. I know that it would be a nightmare task. Maybe not the whole truck prop, but smaller pieces.

Thanks. It seems like a lot of work considering they could have taken an old truck and gutted it. Unless they were worried about old fluids and the like still in hoses etc.

It had to be both lightweight but strong, weather proof, waterproof and fireproof! And be balanced how they wanted for the motion base.
