Castle walls are going up!

I was too. It would just be too different and just strange if you could see both castles while walking down Main Street.

I just hope that the walls don't feel TOO large. Separation is nice, but a barricade in the middle of Fantasyland might take away from the appeal of Fantasyland.

Even without the new castle wall you wouldn't see the beast's castle from Main Street, it's just not that tall. If you look a the model of the expansion you can see that the wall has a lot of opening in it which should keep it from looking to overwhelming as well as help keep good traffic flow.

the separation is key, and you and i all know that imagineers will take note into making sure we cant see the second castle until we are supposed to..

how far will they be along in november? will i have a chance to see almost completed stuff?

Nothing in the expansion will be open by then. As for the wall they can't build much more then we are seeing now without first moving Dumbo, and there are a lot of doubts that that would happen before the end of the year.

They must be tall in that area to hide the Beasts castle from inside the castle walls. I was wondering how they would create separation between the 2 castles. This way you'll have to exit the castle walls before you can see Beasts castle in the distance. Should be very cool...

Not sure I agree with this. It will work because there is no way to view the castles at the same time when in FL. But you should be able to see the FLE from within the walls. I am wondering if the final design of the mine train will be decided after the castle walls are up to ensure everything will look right. CADD programs and virtual walk-throughs are not as good as the human eye at judging these things.

I am thinking you will be able to see the castle from within the walls. The walls will act as another 'layer' to enhance the forced perspective.

Agreed with Dan here as the walls will have little effect on what you do or don't see from Main Street.

Wow! Of all the FLE elements, this is the one I've had the hardest time visualizing. Thanks for the drawing and photos. Looking forward to watching the progress!

I remember seeing and walking by the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland years before the attraction opened. I was wondering if, once exteriors and landscaping is in place, the area will be opened to walk through. It would be reasonable to assume the shoppes in Belle's Village and perhaps Gaston's could open a lot sooner than the attractions. Anybody heard any plans suggesting this?

Different things there.. the HM fascade was finished early in DL and sat for years as they still fgured out wth they were going to build :) And the whole showbuilding and construction was well away from the guests/facade part of the park.

Opening the area to guests puts all kinds of restrictions on what they must do, what they must clean up, etc. They won't open it up until they are are really close to opening the attractions in that area. Doing otherwise would just slow them down that much more. The bigger question is how much will they open at once.. vs phases. But you won't be wandering around back there until there is an attraction to visit.

The BatB castle isnt visble from Main Street already, and we might see some detail within Storybook circus and the Exteriors of BatB and TLM by the end of the year (2011) Small chance of Mine Train starting construction, unless they finish the exteriors and start on full interior construction
