Has anyone heard what's going to happen with the castle suite when Year of a Million Dreams is over? It would be a shame to see it just sit there not being used!

Dunno. But I think this should remain a daily giveaway... Everybody would know that with staying in a Disney resort you may very well end up in the castle suite for one night with your party. It's a great adding to the Disney spirit, and it doesn't cost them much, the family is still paying for the night it should have spent in its resort.
I say let's keep this magic in both WDW and DCR after the YOAMD

Apparently, it is suppose to be a timeshare vacility that will be worth millions of dollars!

starwood

I seriously doubt that... That would really hurt Disney image...

As for charity, I don't think Disney would be will to deal with the stars who will want publicity by bidding on the castle nights... All this would bring way to much attention and security around the very peculiar castle facility. And knowing that only millionaire would be able to sleep up there would really spoil the magic...
In the blue prints this castle suite was intended for Walt Disney himself in the first place, and no one goes before Walt Disney but his guests...
THEN GUESTS IT SHALL ONLY BE ;)

I'd like to see them continue to use it as a special surprise. What if they picked one couple getting married on property each week to have the ultimate honeymoon suite?

I guess there's always the possibility that they'll take everything out and make it into something new when the YOAMD is over.

That's a great idea! They should def do that, it would be nice that everyone would have an equal chance to spend a night there and not only the filthy rich who could afford it if they charged.

No offense but Walt was long dead before the castle was built...it was actually intended for Roy Sr and the rest of the Disney clan.

What they need to do is use it for all the terminally ill kids that come to Disney and for the extreme makeover families. I know that Disney does A LOT for the sick childrens foundations and I think that would be the true spirit of Disney. I am a DVC member and I agree that would tarnish Disney to just start auctioning off to the ultrarich.

I know that there are plenty of terminally ill little girls that would love to be Cinderella for just one night. I would hate to see this used for executives and celebrities who could afford to stay anywhere else but there!

But he was well alive when it was designed and that's why the space was empty after completion, nobody else intented to stay there. Roy was alive for the innauguration, the suite would have been done by then if anyone intented to stay there, but it was left as an empty space.
