I thought they would use traditional methods to produce such an affect.

You know, cream, sponge cake and icing sugar.

You telling me they cheated

I was told taht since the whole castle as we usually see it is a facade that it was taken apart in sections and then put back up with new pieces that built the cake. Kind of like changing clothes, since it is basically a big skeleton it made it easy (or easier) to do this way. I dont think any of the castle that is usually up was painted at all. Although I did hear about the balloon things that decorated some of the top.

I just brought this thread up from the dead.

I am new here so I am searching the threads....lol.

I was there the February after the castle was turned into a cake. When I went, the castle was still partially pink and partially white and there was a crane parked next to it. I don't know whether they repainted or replaced panels, but it sure did look funny.

The body of the castle is essentially a frame with some basic sheeting around it, but the part you see is fiberglass. It is removable, on purpose, in case parts of it are damaged from natural disasters (i.e. hurricanes). My guess? They used that to their advantage.

And I hope that after they put the classic blue castle back up, they burned the cake. It was horrific!
