We'll be taking our 2nd Disney cruise next year and mother in law will be taking her 1st. I see that we'll have a special members only line at check in. My question is will my mother in law be able to get in line with us or will she have to go through the normal line?

When my brother sailed the first time we swapped one of our boys with one of his daughters so technically they had a silver member in his stateroom. He checked in right with us and had the silver gift in his stateroom, too. During check-in I think we swapped the kids back out to get the room keys how they should be.

If you are all one party you should all be able to check in together. At least I would think so at any rate.

We did this. Although I have to be honest, we arrived early enough and i didn't see much difference between this and the regular check-in line. Maybe it's different on some cruises or embarkation points but this was at Canaveral. We did enjoy the silver gift of a backpack during the excursions however.

I know that if you are all staying in the same room, you all go to the same check in. If you are in different rooms that might be different.

However, if so far she is booked into a room by herself and you have a family of more than two in your stateroom, it might make sense to book one person from your family into her room. As a solo traveller she will be charged nearly the full cabin fare for two adults (just not the taxes), so by moving one person out of your cabin, you all will be able to save money. As far as I know Disney does not really care who sleeps where. And if one of you Silver CC Members is in the cabin with her, that cabin qualifies as a Silver cabin with all the earlier check-in and port adventure booking and the Check-in at the port.

Thanks. We did do that and saved her money. Just didn't know that because one of our sons was on the reservation with her if she would qualify for the silver member benefits. Do you know it works with the oceaners lab? Will we have to sign an additional form confirming that we can all sign him in/out?

The highest level castaway club member in a room prevails. Doesn't have to be the lead guest. So if your son is in the room with your mom you should check in at the castaway club area and the welcome gift should be in the stateroom.

I'm not sure about the Oceaneers thing. We've never dealt with any of that.

It isn't an additional form, they just ask who can check them in and out when you first sign them up for the club/lab and you put all applicable names. You do have to fill out an additional form for anyone other than the adult in the same stateroom to take him off the ship. It doesn't make any sense since he is yours, but you need to put your name as one of the adults that can take him off the ship, even though you are the one signing it. I learned this the hard way!

We just did this last month for the first time with both Oceaneers Club and the nursery being we have a 2 year old and a 4 year old. You will actually put all the names of people who can pick your kids up on a list when you do your online check-in. I think it let you have up to a total of 4 additional people (beyond yourself and spouse) who can pick them up. We had several rooms and families involved with our cruise all who were not related just friends and as long as the rooms are all linked like ours were I was able to have several of our friends listed as well as myself and my wife able to pick up our kids. Only 1 adult is able to enter the area to go and get the child and you have to have your room key to do so, it's really cool cause they use the magicband that is issued for the child on the first day at open house check-in and they can tell you exactly which room they are in by the gps. My 4 year old did not want to leave everytime we went to pick him up, he was having so much fun. Go and do the open house and check it out because it's an awesome area, the pics online and in the video make it look fun but to see it in person makes it even better!
