I haven't seen any menus or prices (assuming not all inclusive), what is the food like compared to the cuisine on the Fantasy?

It's about the same thing you can get at the QSRs on up on Deck 11. Hotdogs, Hamburgers, cookies (the best), chips, etc. I'm also pretty sure it is all inclusive.

All inclusive. The people cooking and serving are the cast off the ships! It's basic cookout fare: burgers, chicken, hot dogs, etc. On Serenity Bay, the adult-only beach, I hear they frequently offer a few things that you don't find in the main food areas like steaks. Also, sometimes when like the night before they served lobster or something if there's any leftover that needs to be cooked they bring it down to the adult beach and offer it there. I've seen infrequently that lobster was an offering but I don't necessarily catch onto a pattern to predict that one. Alcohol and bar drinks on the island are extra but the grub, sodas, & ice cream are self-serve, all you can take in, and included!

Yes it is all inclusive, Also go over to the adult beach (if you don't have children) the food is really good over there. The Mahi Mahi was out of this world, real soft ice cream, not ice milk like on the ship, we loved it at the adult beach. Only about 5 couples there. Best time on the cruise.

They have wait staff walking around the beach too taking your drink orders and they deliver right back to you at your beach chair. You just charge it to your room like everything else.

The only thing that you can't charge to your room on Castaway Cay is the postage at the Post Office, you need cash for that, exact change if I recall correctly.

That's a really fun souvenir, by the way. The postmark actually says "Castaway Cay" on it. So send a few postcards to yourself and friends, and they get a unique stamp on them. (Not postage stamp, I meant the postmark.)

Speaking of the post office, we picked up Bahamian stamps ahead of time and were able to just slip our postcards in the slot that is available. Was definitely handy since the post office was closed that day.

Cindy, where did you get the stamps ahead of time? How much were they? I'd love to send some postcards to the boys since they won't be with us this go around. We sent them postcards every day of our kid-free WDW trip in May of 2008. :D

On the cruise when we stopped in Nassau, I just picked them up there. The post office window in Festival Place was closed, but we found a drugstore on Bay Street that sold stamps. The woman at the register guessed on the amount we would need to send it to the U.S. Wish I remember what that was now! I also ordered stamps online when we did a Western itinerary and did not stop in Nassau, but not sure you have enough time for that...you leave in two weeks, correct? Would need to check on the shipping time...

The Castaway Cay post office has a slot to the left of the door that is on the left side of the building. I put an arrow pointing to the slot in the picture below. My family received their post cards around three weeks after we were there.

That's so cool! Maybe I can look up how much postage I'll need online so if we can find stamps in Nassau conveniently (according to whatever we end up doing) I won't have to rely on anyone guessing. LOL! Thanks, Cindy!

Ok, I just did a quick search and it is 65 cents, which sounds about right. I remember we purchased 60-some-odd cent stamps, so it must have been 65. :)

BBQ Ribs, Cornbread, Grilled Fish, Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Corn on the Cob, Chicken Tenders, French Fries, Chips, Cookies, Cakes, Grilled Chicken, Roasted (Bone-in) Chicken, Ice cream...
I think that's about everything I've had (or seen) there, more or less. Picture a really well catered company BBQ/Picnic.
And remember, you can still visit the adult beach even if you have kids, because the island has a secured drop-off play center for the kids, just like on the ship. I like to go early, drop the kids in the play area (they insist), go to the adult beach til lunch-ish time. Come get the kids and spend some time at the family beach before heading back on board.

Oh, and make sure you get the Conch Cooler (the island's alcoholic specialty drink) - sometimes I can't wait and ask the amazing bartenders to make me one while on board too!
The Margarita's I had on Castaway have always seemed a heck of a lot stronger too - not sure if it's coincidence or what

Enjoy your time there - you'll miss it when you're gone!
