Cast Member Rules They Have To Follow

Is the first one true at all? I've had plenty of cast members answer my questions last time I went.

The one about saying "I don't know" was very poorly written. What it means is that they CAN answer questions, but if they don't know the answer, they're supposed to direct you to another CM who may know, or call/research the answer (within reason).

Note that this doesn't apply to CMs who are in positions where safety is more important (i.e. ride operators/dispatchers, parade spotters).

I once had the opportunity to go backstage in the Pop Century luggage area. I was amazed by all the cast member rules posted. The dress code was very strict and posted with pictures.

On star tours I was near the employee entrance to the ride area. Behind the door you could see a big Star Wars themed poster with dress code and rules. Pretty cool, but couldn't make everything out.

The social media one isn't true at all; it's very common to talk about what you do at Disney under your job listings or just status updates about what happened at work that day. Characters have to be a bit more careful since they can refer only to their "friends," and criticizing the job/the company is a bad idea, but otherwise you see cast members on social media all the time.

The rest are pretty well true. :)

What they posted was a distortion of the actual rules. The character people aren't supposed to talk about what they do while a character.. and disney CMs aren't supposed to talk about internal-only or things not published. Basically, confidentiality and characters aren't supposed to break the image...

Right.

Posting this on Facebook would do no harm: "Sold popcorn on Main Street all day today. Tired, but met a lot of happy guests!"

Whereas this would: "Ugh, 4 hours as Snow White in Germany. Sick of snotty kids. [pic of herself driving out of cast parking lot with frown]."

That makes much more sense. It's a bit surprising no one noticed that it was unclear before being posted online. Thanks for clearing that up.
