Both times I wrote thank you notes to Peter and the CMs involved and left them at City Hall. Do these ever get passed on? I really wanted the people involved to know that we appreciated what they did and couldn't think of how else to let them know. [/B]

Yes, they deliver it to the CMs, and sometimes those things are posted in the tunnels and/or come out in Eyes and Ears.

Down Syndrome

As a parent of a five year old with Down Syndrome, It is so nice to see that "Our Children" touch so many other people lives.

Mason (My Child) went to WDW last summer for the first time.
We have to look at the pictures about once a week. He ask "When can we go to Disney" everytime he see the pictures.

Hope to get back in 2003.

Thanks for noticing that children with DS can make a difference in others lives.

I had many good experiences my last trip in February, but this one took the cake. My niece was along with us,(her first trip to DW, by the way!) and we were walking around the pangani trail in AK. Well, she was raising a fuss all the way, and we came across a couple of CMs that helped us calm her down. I don't remember the name of one, but the other that held Hannah and calmed her down was named Wilson! We all joked about the lines in KS about Wilson and Little Red and the 'Tommys!'. That was the best! We got some good pictures of them.

4 years ago I passed out in line (heat stroke) in line waiting for Homey I shrunk the audience. A cast member got me a wheelchair, free of charge and gave my wife tips for getting around. We saw the same cast member a few days later and he remembered me and went out of his way to see how I was doing. I will never forget that and I always look for him when I go back. I have never seen him again but I look anyway.

My favorite cast member experience took place last October and was not park-related. As many of us know, if you bring Disney plush toys with you to your hotel, often you can return after a long day in the park to find them waiting for you. It does depend on your housekeeper and his or her willingness to be creative, but more often than not, you can get a really inspirational, creative person taking care of your room. Almost every day of the nine days my wife and I were there, we'd come home to our little welcoming committee. It really made our trip special and we really appreciated the little touches like that to make our trip memorable.

My husbands and mine first trip to WDW was in 1996. We were both grad students and didn't make much money, but went ahead and got the resevations to DL. We had talked to the CM at CR for a long time setting up the ressies, her name was Tabitha.

When we checked in at DL the CM said, oh wait one min, you have mail. We were very surprized that Tabitha had left a note wishing us a magical vaction. It really was! No matter how much fun we have each trip to WDW since then, our first year was always the most magical.

When I was at WDW in 1997, My sister who has a brain disorder went to Epcot with everybody. All of the character CMs paid special attention to her and were very nice to her I don't remember it very well (It was kind of a long time ago)

The Mouse has ears...

It was my friend Carole's birthday and we had all gotten into Who Wants to Be a Millionaire... After a few questions, Carole was able to get in the hot seat. (Damn her and her knowledge of all things French!)

Anyway, I said to her husband rather loudly- It's funny that this happened to be one her birthday. I knew a CM was behind us, and she quickly radioed the host.

The host asked her about her birthday, totally freaking her out...

It made it a birthday that she's not likely to forget...

The Cast Members I've talked to at the parks and in the resorts have just about all been terrific.

Great as they are, the Cast Members who I have found to be the MOST helpful are the ones who post here. Some of you guys have been extra-patient, answering questions you must have to deal with in person a gazillion times a day. THANKS!!!:sohappy:

I witnessed the cast members in action one time when a lady came running out of a store on Main Street screaming she had lost her child. It was absolutely amazing to see all of the CM's around swarm to her. They pulled her off to the side of the street to get her away from the crowd and in a matter of 30 seconds there must have been 10-20 CM's on the search and helping her calm down. Fortunately, after 10 minutes or so they did find the little boy in another shop. It was definitely a sight to see.....

many years ago, our family always went to WDW every winter. One time my aunt (RIP!!! Damn cancer!!!!) came with us. Since my brother was too young to go on Space Mountain, etc. My mom and my aunt took him on the carousel and IASM. When they got off the carousel, my brother spotted the bad cat from Pinnochio(SP?), and the cutest thing i ever saw my brother do was notice that his pants were falling down. I was not there but my mom (thankfully) got the whole thing on tape. As soon as the CM noticed what my brother was telling him, he looks down and my brother was trying to help get his pants up. I swear to you, it sounds like surround sound as laughter is heard all around.

Why, oh why, did that have to be the only time my brother wasn't :fork: ?

I've had one experience. It's kind of corny though. Anyway I remember when I traded my first pin at Disney MGM-Studios. It was a cast member, although I don't remember her name. I do remember what she looked like. Told ya it was corny.:animwink:

When a CM rushed us in a golf cart at the entrance of the Grand Floridian to the dock to watch the fireworks. We had gotten to the entrance as soon as they started and immediatly the driver of the cart took the whole family in and rushed us to the dock. It was great!

My best CM moment had to be the time we went to DisneyWorld and I decided to propose to my now wife. I had gone through tons of pre planning as I wanted to get engaged at dinner at the Garden Grill. I checked in and the cm's already knew I was coming and were ready and eager to help. The manager was new to the restaurant and it was his first engagement ever. I honestly think he was more nervous than I was. Once seated, the waiter was so calm, I wondered if he even knew. Anyway, they had given me an "out" if I decided not to go through with it. Our waiter was going to ask me if we wanted desert. (As you know it comes with the meal anyway). If I wanted to back out, I just said "no". and he would return everything to me afterword. Well, the funniest thing was when the waiter asked, my wife chimes in, "definitely not, I'm stuffed". Our waiter just smiled and asked me if I would like anything. I replied in the affirmative. He delayed everything util the resaurant had spun so we were out front for all to see. What he brought out was amazing. The manager had gone down to the gift shop and purchased a stuffed Timon. He had taken off the bugs in his hand and tied the ring to his hand. The waiter brought it to my wife on one of those skillets with flowers on it and said "Kevin has asked Timon to give you something". It took my wife a moment to see what it was and I immediately got down on one knee and proposed. There was a huge crowd and after she said yes, everyone starting clapping. All of the CM's were hiding behind the wall and took pictures, etc. for me. It was wonderful. The manager had tears in his eyes. I wish I could remeber all their names, but we have been so many times it is impossible to remember all the wonderful CM's you encounter. This staff certainly made our day to remember one we will never forget.

Truly a magical moment that I bet both of you cherish. Personally... I can't think of a more wonderful place to get engaged than at Walt Disney World... there are so many opportunities... ways to do it... That's so cute how they had Timon present the ring... hehe

A magical moment for us happened in 2000. We were staying at the Contemporary Resort and had stopped at the Food and Fun Center for a snack. We had just gotten started with the pin trading craze and my son and two nieces were hot and heavy into it. A CM, Augie, was busing tables in the seating area. He came to our table and asked if we needed straws. We replied yes and he gave us each a straw. Then he showed us a Mickey Mouse straw and said, here trade me your straw for mine. Each one of us got a Mickey straw in return for a plain straight one. Not as cool as the engagement story but it was something we still talk about.
