CARS pushed back

The “official” reason was to release it in the summer to attract more kids. However the official reason and the truth are not always the same thing. I really hope that the delay is to restart negotiating between Pixar and Disney. I think it would be a tragic mistake to let that partnership completely dissolve.

IMHO, I think it's so Pixar has more amo to use agains Disney, as in "With our movies positioned here, we can make x amount of dollars, NOT including DVD sales. We are poised against you, you can make the deal sweeter, or say bye-bye to money."

I think Disney and Pixar need each other….even if Eisner and Jobs don’t want to admit it. I wish someone would make those two people ditch their egos for 5 minuets and look at the big picture.

I don't, I think Disney is plenty capable of doing their own animation, well at least they are becoming capable. I think the restructuring of the animation department, while not seen as popular, will turn out to be the right decision.

Given the current situation I think it is a good idea to rebuild the animation department because what choice do they have. Disney and Pixar are a few months away from the situation becoming unrecoverable. The biggest problem is that you have 2 of the biggest ego’s (Eisner and Jobs) in the business world butting heads with each other. Neither one will budge because they would see it as a personal defeat. Disney invested in a small animation company that proved to be a diamond in the rough. Now that Pixar is nearly as much of a household name as Disney they want more control and money out of the arrangement. Now I’m not privy to the details of the proposal, but knowing Eisner his offer was probably an insult and Jobs wanted all the control and all the money

If Cars were pushed out to the time Eisner is supposed to leave office, I am sure a new deal could be made. Disney should buy Pixar for whatever the cost is, they are too valuable of an asset to lose. I would like Pixar to always keep creative control though because it is the way Pixar makes their stories that make them so good.

Maybe it's because imagineers have yet to complete their plans for rehabing the Indy Speedway with a CARS theme? :drevil:

As Jim Hill hypothesized, if Pixar left Disney and continued making blockbuster, "truly Disney" films, Disney would be FORCED to make good movies. . .
I'm sure the artists see it that way, but the alleged "creative executives" would just see it as another way to micromanage another project to death. John Lasseter, on the other hand...(story story story!)

And the moving of Cars to summer 2006 might have actually been a good move to the movie as well. Isn't Harry Potter supposed to come out the week following Cars' original release date? So maybe it was a good move for everyone.

P.S. Does anyone know when the fourth Indiana Jones movie is scheduled to be released? I thought it was Summer 2005, but I haven't seen anything on it.

It keeps getting pushed back due to script problems (the first one was scraped completely) the last date I heard was 2006.

That is right Grizz, competition brings out the best in all competitors.
