The Tournament of Roses confirmed to this reporter that Disneyland Resort is entering a float, but not who was going to build it. A little more sleuthing, and we located Craig Bugajski, owner of Artistic Entertainment Services, who confirmed that AES is creating the first Disney Rose Parade float since 2006. As far as we know, Tournament of Roses Examiner is the first to announce it.
Some info on the float.
The float is already in process; when we last spoke with Bugajski, it was just the bare chassis. With only a few weeks to go before the road tests and 2 ½ months to parade day, the race is on to get the cars on the road. At 125 feet long and 45 feet tall, the float is massive even by Rose Parade standards. It’s going to be highly animated and have pyrotechnics, Bugajski said, which means a lot of engineering goes into the design and execution. The height alone means overheight mechanisms to lower the top when it goes under the 210 Freeway overpass, and raise it again for the rest of the route.
