I think DVD sales will show large number as well. Some folks don't take their young children to the movies and will wait. This is a really good movie and will do very well.

Cars is now actually 0.3 million ahead of where Monsters was at this point in its run and will likely continue to perform stronger over the weekdays than Monsters did to widen that gap in its favor.
The thing with that though is that MI played throughout the winter when legs are always fantastic. Not only that, but there's a new animated film on 7/21 (Monster House), 7/28 (The Ant Bully), and 8/4 (Barnyard). They won't be anywhere near as big as Cars/Over the Hedge, but they do pose some competition (as does Pirates/Superman over the next three weeks).

That's the thing that people are forgetting big time about Cars: The summer isn't the ideal spot for films with legs and back in the previous Pixar film runs, CG animation wasn't in the over saturation point that it is right now. Cars is doing very well if you factor in all of the things stacked against it. I think Pixar has peaked as far as grosses go for a while. But if they keep churning out $200 million grossing films with a ton of merchandising, I'm sure Disney won't be shedding any tears.
