Carry on bag size limit

I was planning on carrying my gear bag since it can carry a fair amount and I plan on bringing in a fair amount ;-) . Anyway, if measures about 14 inches in diameter and about 30ish inches in length. Is that too large of a bag for carry on? Here's a generic pic of it:

Not at all. As long as it fits through a standard airport x-ray belt scanner thingy (I'm sure there's a better name for that ) you'll be fine. That's definitely small enough.
