We are going to Disney for Christmas. We have already booked the Carribean Beach resort a Pirate Water view room. I was wondering if anyone has stayed here and what they thought. I see some really bad reviews fo the CBR. But those are from years ago. Any recent stays? anyone been in one of the new pirate rooms? what did you think? How was transportation? We stayed at the Grand Floridian last year for the 4th of July. Just didn't want to spend the extra 3 grand this year.

Thanks!!

I like resort, but not the location of the Pirate rooms, as they are all in Trinidad South, and for us that was much too far from everything.

We had previously been in Trinidad North and Martinique, before they were preferred locations, and much prefer them.

If I was to stay there again, I wouldn't spend the extra money on the pirate rooms, I would spend it on the preferred location - should be the same cost.

We liked CB much better than Pop. I like the relaxed beachy atmosphere and calypso music in the food court. It's a much less crowded feel than at Pop.

But we like the other mods we've been to (Coronado, POFQ) a little better. Their pool areas are a little nicer. The buses at CB make a lot of stops. Transportation seemed a little faster at Coronado and a lot faster at POFQ. Coronado now has 2 queen beds instead of double in the standard rooms.

I stayed at CB on my last trip (Was my first time staying there in probably 10-15 years) and I found it to be no worse than any of the other Moderate hotels. Its a bit quieter and has more to explore than any of the value hotels IMO. I'd say go for it. Although, Port Orleans FQ is still my fav in the moderate range.

If PORFQ is a lot faster than CB, then I know I will NEVER stay CB. I was on a bus at PORFQ for about 45 minutes trying to get to Epcot. It was TERRIBLE. But to each their own.

We stayed at the CBR in 07' it was our first moderate. We stayed at the All Stars preivously. However I did like the resort a lot. It was a relaxing beachy feel I agree. The only thing that drove me crazy at bit was the number of bus stops but thats with any resorts. The maid service had made us a animal of some sort out of the towels every day that was nice.

Personally I would save the money and do CBR. have fun and enjoy!:ROFLOL:

The week we stayed at POFQ the buses to MK were direct - no stops. Other buses were shared with POR and it took about the same time as at CB and CS. POR & POFQ also share boats to Downtown Disney, & it's a shorter trip from POFQ than from POR.

I really liked CBR when we were there last August. People will complain that it is really spread out, which it is depending on which area you are in, but I didn't mind the walk, it was nice. As for buses, there was only one morning that we had to wait kind of a while. Overall it's a great resort IMO.

We've stayed at CBR twice and liked both times. It is a big resort and both times we had a hike to the main area. We have also stayed at POR and Corando Springs, I would have to say PORS is my favorite moderate.

Stayed there in '06 and liked it. Requested a room close to a bus stop, and got a pool side room in Jamaica. Just a hop, skip and a jump to the bus stop, and only a 5 minute walk over the bridge to the food court. The room was clean, and the grounds are beautiful. Didn't really have any issues with the buses until the night after Illuminations when we got a contracted bus driver that didn't know where he was going. We had to give him directions to the resort and shout when we were coming up to a stop!

Thanks Everyone

Thank you all for your replies. We've already booked CBR it was my B day present. I know our kids will like the pirate themed room. Just had read so many bad reviews. This our second trip to DW the first we stayed at the Grand Floridian. (we wanted to see how the upper class lived). We would stay there again but I wanted to save a little money on this trip, plus it was way more exspensive in December than in July when we stayed last time.

We actually don't mind walking so.. the distance at CBR won't be a problem. I am a little concerned with the Transportation (time). But then again we are on vacation. I'll have to make sure to leave early if we have a reservation for B L or D planned.

Is it any less busy at Christmas time than during the summer?

If it werent' for the kids we would probably stay in a preferred room, but.. wanted to make it fun for the kids.. and they both love pirates, not to say my wife does too! I have a wooden leg and an eye patch.. so I'll be right at home!
