I think it was a big mistake removing Dumbo from the Fantasyland midway. Disneyland's is still great because of that view, which is a major part of the ride's appeal. At Magic Kingdom, the ride(s) is (are) now in a position relative to New Hampshire and you glide by a tent half the time. The view is lame. I also find it bizarre to see another Dumbo across from you. It makes it feel less special and kinda like this scene from Star Trek:

Dumbo = classic
Carpets = well, not so much. bottlenecked that area and rehashed an old idea. Same can be said of triceratops spin IMO.

Seriously....TRICERATOPS? I might have more respect for it if they called it "Pteranodon Spin".
Since Pteranodons actually could...you know...

Or maybe if they put each of the trikes in a Sopwith Camel and deck them out with leather aviator helmets and goggles.

They could be hunting down the Rex Baron.

I think the flying triceratops are a deliberate nod to Dumbo. Of all the charismatic dinos, triceratops most closely resemble elephants. So instead of flying elephants you now have flying triceratops. As a redeeming factor, as with Dumbo, their being the least likely creatures to take to the air is part of the fantasy.

The same is done with Primeval Whirl, which is a carnival knock-off of the Dinosaur ride, at least in its erstwhile incarnation of Countdown To Extinction. Another deliberate nod to another Disney ride.

It's a product of the ironic self-referential Disney nineties. Chester and Hester takes that to extremes, themed as the real version of carnival rides that are based on actual Disney rides which it not acknowledges but still persiflages, actual rides which are the themed versions of reality, conceived to be an escape from carnival rides. I should draw that in a schedule to see if I said that right, but I can't be bothered because Dinorama sucks too hard to deserve that much attention.

I'm going to be awkward and say the Astro-Orbiter is the best spinner since it is the highest, fastest, the rockets are tilted and half way through the ride G force kicks in and pushes you against the side of the rocket making it feel you are going to fly out and so it is a far more fun and thrilling experience.

I am genuinely afraid on Astro-Orbitor.

Yes. Dumbo is not an isolated ride. It's location is Fantasyland, which it uses as a background and to which it is a background. It has a 'story' and a place.
The way the Riverboat is not an isolated ride, but a sailing spinner through Liberty Square / Frontierland. The boat both creating the theme of the lake district, and being dependent on it for its own story.

Dumbo in the MCO parking lot is pointless, a non-ride. The way the Liberty Belle sailing a two-hundred yard circle around Tampa harbour is pointless too. Whereas one could conveivably transport RnRC or Small World there and still they are basically the same experiences.

The issue isn't so much the carpets themselves....most of the hate I've seen directed towards them has been in the fact that it's really out of place. The rest of Adventureland has a tropical theme going for it. Polynesia, Caribbean, India and African jungles, etc.
And then right in the smack dab middle of it: Arabia.

Actually, in the original story, Aladdin was from Asia.

I haven't ridden Dumbo- they have it hidden so far in the back of the park that even if I wanted to ride, I might forget about it.
I liked the carpets- I do like Aladdin- but you say a camel spits at you during the ride? I know about the camel that spits the walkway in front, but I just rode this one recently (within the year) and I don't remember water.

@Endor Sightseer I agree. I do not like the 2 Dumbos! The whole "circus" area is just not my cup of tea. I understand the demand for the ride, and the new queue being interactive, but you still wait as long for both Dumbos. I think Disney should have thought of a way to keep DUMBO where it was IMHO. They could have "spruced up " the queue a bit. Why oh why? I miss the old days! LOL.

Actually, in the original story, Aladdin was from Asia.

Disney has a problem with geography.

Aladdin is from China, in Eastern Asia.

Disney's Aladdin is Arabian, which is in Western Asia.

Yet he makes appearances at Epcot's Morocco, which is on the far western shore of Africa.


Not the first time this has happened...
Brer Rabbit and Co. Are from the Deep South, yet are located in a western frontier.

And poor Megara pops up at Epcot and just meanders around the European countries like a homeless lady!

Actually of all the spinners... Astro Orbiters is my favorite. The view from up there as well as the thrill that is added just because of the height. But that wasn't the OP's question. If rating them all, I would probably put Dumbo as #2 and agree with the others... Triceratops is by far the worst.
