Caroussel of Progress

Disneyworld.com currently lists CoP as "Open Seasonally". They also list Timekeeper as "Open Seasonally", but we all know what happened to it.

So to answer your question, yes it is, but its future looks bleak.

We took our 5 yr old daughter on CoP in September so she could nap...Needless to say, this is her favorite ride! Quite often, she will start singing the songs in the show. I hope, for her sake, they keep this ride alive for a very long time to come.

The ride was (to my surprise) open last week, during a decidedly offpeak time. It was my first time seeing the show since 1990!

Sadly, the experience was ruined by some idiot woman trying to exit while the theater was in motion. It threw the ride out of sync for a couple of scenes. Plus, we got to hear the voice of the operator interrupt and warn us to stay in our seats.

I was there in October and it was open and even had a line! The CM was saying that there were people in every single part of the room. PLus with the previous talks about the minor rehabs on it just recently why would they close it? I would only imagine that if they were to close it it would be during the week or leave it open daily until aver new years.

CoP was my first ride I ever went on in Disney world when i went there for the first time this past summer and i adore that ride. I went on it with 15 other high schoolers and we had a great time singing the song and just enjoying the ride. We opted to go it rather then do Space Mountain again when we had extra time. this is just something special about that ride and i would be very upset if they close it!

"There's a great big beautiful tommorow!!!!!"

I couldn't agree more!!! We took our 6 year old son and 3 year old daughter at the end of October. They both loved it! In fact, on the way home, my son said that was the only ride he wished we had done just one more time before leaving. He sings "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" almost daily. We love the Carousel of Progress. I hope it NEVER goes away!!!!!!

Though it's officially listed as "Open Seasonally" Carousel of Progress been steadily open pretty much all year. It's not open during MNSSHP and MVMCP but other then that, it's been on normal hours.

Timekeeper may be listed as "Open Seasonally" but the signs have been removed (actually replaced) outside the building and it's section of the TTA spiel has been missing all year. Last time I saw it open was NYE 2004. It's a Buzz, Stitch and The Incredibles meet-and-greet now. It also serves as a free photo spot during MNSSHP and MVMCP.

Corrus! I thought you liked COP?!?
Never said that... I always ventilated and voted for EOL (End Of Life)
IMO... They should have closed that scruffy thing a long time ago... And there's still a chance for me... :D

I always argued with Grizz about that...

Caroussel of Progress.... There's nothing progressive about it anymore... they won't change the scenes, jusat the chairs... that "thing" is falling apart...
Believe me I've seen it from close by...

Does anyone know if its going to be open the first week in Dec? I really hope so, its my fav ride. :)
Most likely yes. Like I said, it's been open basically on normal hours all year (excluding the Parties) so I don't foresee it closing in December.

Argggh, I dislike to extreme measures that there's such an easy was to fix this (well, not labor-wise but Idea-wise) but it hasn't been given the Go-Ahead (I'm trusting Imagineering already thought of this extremely simple Idea that should have been Implimented years ago, and it was just never approved)!

I don't want to say it here because that might guarantee that it never sees a small beam of light from a Green Bulb, but there are certain major events that the Carousel SHOULD be based on, as in, Not every 20 years, but some other number which in this of All years should be recognized as what should be done to keep this from outdating itself so quickly.

Maybe it'll happen sometime . . .

Carousel, just hold on for another 6 Years!!!
