Carousel of Progress refurb?

So the whole attraction is being updated or just the intro? As long as it remains IP free I’m cautiously optimistic

Per the blog post:
There are still plenty of additional details to be revealed, including what John, Sarah, and the rest of the family are up to. Disney Imagineers love this attraction and the heart of it will stay the same while introducing the Carousel of Progress to an entirely new generation of fans, showing them that a great big, beautiful tomorrow is just a dream away.

I think they have to tread carefully with this one. Its an attraction that can and needs to be updated (Even as a purist fan of CoP realises this wholeheartedly). The less a focus is on it, the more it falls into an easy capsule of getting rid of it.

I do not feel that they will ever totally re-do the attraction. It would rip out the heart and soul of it being a continual show that has existed for so long (In the UK we have the Mousetrap as the longest running show, you guys have CoP). It would also have a detrimental affect on why people love the ride - think DL's Tower of Terror overhaul.

Having the opening scene dedicated to a new animatronic would be a lovely touch. Its keeping with the theme. This is most probably what they would do. I have very little feeling that they would do up every scene in the ride - a'la CBJ. They 'may' have a go at updating the final scene but I doubt Disney would do this. Would it not be quite hard to do keeping with the score and dialogue of the attraction as it is. They would have to adapt all the other scenes.

Is the room catered to four segments or five. Is the first room also the last room?

If they redo the dialogue and bring in a new voice cast…they really should bring in Rex Allen Jr as the voice of the dad. He (naturally) has a similar voice to his father. It would be a great tribute.

I would personally love to see them go back to the World's Fair finale with Holiday 1965... We already lost our original MK song for the COP, might as well take the whole thing back to Walt's Original...Stylistically I think it would be perfect... the jump from 1900s to 1920s to 1940s and then 60 plus years later seems too much... they should keep it all as a period piece and end it with the hopeful, future-inspired 1964....when the best things were coming...just on the horizon.... Horizons.... sigh.

Load, Unload, and four scenes:

At the minimum, the concept art shared would be for the Opening stage. Whether a copy of the scene is made for the Closing stage remains to be seen.

If they go back and timelock this to being a worlds fare attraction I think that’s one clever way of doing it. Retro future the last scene.

I’d have an audio outro of the family doing some sort of wink and nod about Walt Disney World. Therefore making the final scene stepping into his realized Magic Kingdom. Though it would be extra nice if we had full Walt scenes both at the start and end. I love when rides trick you into thinking you are back where you started.

Need people to gather their belongings and exit pretty quickly so I don't think a full Walt scene, and if you have him, probably have to have a curtain come down or else people will try to get photos with him

But having him there to start and say something like "welcome back ... Hope you had some quality family time. Now gather your belonging and progress out of the theater and remember, there's a great big beautiful tomorrow!" And the curtain lowers
