Carousel of Progress refurb?

This tweet seemingly confirms that the attraction is having serious maintenance issues. Do we think it’s really at risk of closing? I think that would be the death knell for the MK for me. I can't imagine it without the CoP.

I wouldn't believe it until we have more reliable insider sources, she claims he got it from a cast member working at CoP, but I'm waiting for the experts to see what they know.

Who knows man. COP has been “on the chopping block” for the longest time. I’d wait for wording from other people before getting worried much. Remember, anyone can say anything online.

Any possible, but I find it hard to believe they are just counting down motors until COP doomsday hits.

Also, says management is looking to “remove or replace”…..but news hasn’t reached “corporate” yet. I would think that discussion/decision would be above local management. Wouldn’t it?

The fact that nobody credible has debunked this yet is concerning
Why? It's a rumor from yesterday. The list of people who even have access to this type of info is very very small. The Cast running the attraction do not even know these things. The ride has been opened since 1975 and you won't find online whether or not it's even true that it runs on 9 motors.

The ride cannot physically run once the next motor fails, apparently.

Also, from another tweet in the chain, to replace the motors would require a major overhall.

Please define “major overhaul”. Could one person call a week long closure a major overhaul? A month? A year? I mean it’s a motor, I bet they’ve replaced them at times over it’s long life right?

Even if it took longer, rides routinely go down for lengthy refurbishments. Another Tomorrowland attraction just closed for 6 months and no one suggested it was being removed permanently.
